  This week's bad idea
Posted by: Shibo - 11-01-2003, 04:45 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (11)

Ok, so my pillow sucks. I figure it'd be cool to get one from Japan. So I order this buckwheat pillow from J-Life international. It's absolutely gorgeous, but it's a rock.. I mean, It's firmer than any american pillow I've ever come across, and god forbid you ever got into a pillow fight with someone who was holding one of these.. He'd prolly break your neck because this thing is scary.. I tried sleeping on it last night, and I guess that's why I'm writing this at 4:30 AM. =P Man, I hope they have a good return policy!

  UK buyers from import anime?
Posted by: MasterPlan - 10-31-2003, 01:57 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (48)

heya, I was wondering if there are many UK buyers of anime from here... I know like 3 people from the net that are into anime, so it doesnt help me that much for when i want a good store to buy cheap anime from... so basically, I was wondering if any UK'ers buy from here, and how quick you get it, and if you pay customs charges at all... also if you know of any decent companies in the UK for HK DVD's and the like, mail me: [email protected]

Hope everybody got their copy of the Trigun Manga
Posted by: evilomar - 10-31-2003, 09:36 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (4)

According to Digital Manga Publishing the first issue of their debut manga collaboration with Dark Horse Comics (This was the greatest idea DH has had since they started publishing manga) , Trigun, has sold 30,000 copies in 2-3 days post release. The second printing will run 15,000 copies on newsstands which will begin printing this week and will be out in early November. They expect Berserk to do as well. Manga completely selling out in the US is amazing, I know 30,000 doesn't seem like alot, but we are talking about a book that has a $14.95 price tag on it!!! Go Dark Horse!!!

****Click Here For Anime News Network's Anime Ratings Page****

Note that you can click next to the categories for top 50 ratings.. I find stats like this fascinating. I enjoy seeing what anime I've seen and what I've missed.

A couple of quick observations here:

I saw one ep of the # 2 most underrated series (Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country Cafe) on their list at Nan Desu Kan this past year. I thought it was fantastic.. Would have been even better if it was subbed. Wink

I'm looking at the best rated anime list and I realize that the only thing I haven't seen in the top 15 is Haibane Renmei. Go me! Wink

Sooo.. Take a look at the lists. Make some observations. Discuss!

  Where's the RESPECT?
Posted by: Ka-Talliya - 10-30-2003, 06:13 AM - Forum: Rants - Replies (50)

What is with kids these days? Now I'm sure that's a thing our parents asked themselves many a time while we were growing up...but I doubt we were this bad.

I first noticed this lack of respect in High School. When I was a freshman...we looked up to and feared the Seniors. When I became a Senior, nobody cared...they mouthed off to you just because you were a Senior.

Then again tonight...I'm playing dead at the haunted house and low and behold, some little shit thinks it's funny to try and step on me and call me names. I had to restrain myself or else I would have strangled that kid with my bare hands.

Okay, so I play the dead hooker, but that's not the point.
The point is this, since "they" started saying "don't spank your kids, it will emotionally scar them for life", kids do what they please knowing there are few reprocussions.
I think what a lot of these kids need is a good "ass wuppin'" to teach them that this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
