Innocence: Ghost in the Shell DVD Release
Posted by: napalm68 - 07-08-2004, 12:48 AM - Forum: Anime Discussion - No Replies

Well, the Japanese version of Innocence has been announced, a nice 2 disker with 6.1 dolby.

http://club.buenavista.jp/ghibli/product...sp?cid=522

But guess what? It is lacking english subtitles, even though they had an english subbed version in japan, and at cannes.

I mean what exactly are they trying to do? Encourage getting a HK version shortly after? Seems like it to me. Are they under pressure from the US distributor as it is getting a limited theatrical release?Sad

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bandai Entertainment Cracks Down on DVD Piracy and Intellectual Property Infringement

Cypress, CA (July 7, 2004) ×Bandai Entertainment announced today that it has served lawsuits against several retailers for engaging in the duplication, importation, distribution, and/or sale of unauthorized merchandise infringing upon copyrighted and trademarked properties at this yearfs Anime Expo convention in Anaheim, California. Defendants in Bandai's lawsuit include:

Otaku Entertainment, Inc., dba MANGA HOUSE
EJ International, Inc., dba ABCTOY4ME.COM and ANIMECIRCLE.COM
Anime Combo
MTWC Group, Inc., dba Kawaii Anime and Kawaii-Anime.com
John Lo, Inc., dba House of Anime and Houseofanime.com

"The increased proliferation of counterfeit merchandise and DVD piracy of Japanese animated properties has gone on for too long", states Ken Iyadomi, Executive Vice President of Bandai Entertainment. "The time has come to take a stand against the flood of cheap knockoffs and blatant bootlegs. The vendors who sell pirated merchandise, CDs, and DVDs are causing huge economic losses for legitimate businesses and must be stopped."

With the full cooperation of all those who participate in the creation and distribution of these products in Japan and elsewhere - Bandai Entertainment aims to aggressively protect its intellectual property rights and licenses through these actions and hopes that these lawsuits will send a clear message to other retailers and distributors that distributing counterfeit or bootleg DVDs and merchandise will not be tolerated.

Consumers and retailers are urged to contact Bandai Entertainment at [email protected] to report other distributors suspected of selling counterfeit DVDs and merchandise.

It is so amazing that some stores would be sooooooooooo dumb to bring in the bootlegs during major anime conventions when they know very well that the major studios would be there as well.

Hey,

I have been a big fan of CardCaptors but the price of buying all 18 volumes drove me insane so I decided to go downt his road and get -- this...well, I went through your reviews and I did not see the kind that I bought reviewed and now im worryed I got some "mysterious" version of this boxset that no one has seen that is the worst quality O_O Anyone have any experience with this set?

http://store.yahoo.com/animedvd/j201-184.html

The sets that were reviewed and one of which got stellar reviews was the one I originally was going to get, BUT thanks to my scatter-brain I forgot to go on Ebay to get it so, I bought a more expensive set that I've never seen before o_o But yeah O_o! Any help would be appreciated greatly

Thanks ^_^

P.S. Im new here and I hope to post here more often and haha sorry for the account name. If this is the wrong forum to post this -- sorry and if you would be so kind to move it to the correct place then ^_^

Thanks!

*all info and scans courtesy of 'Gunota Headlines'*

Clear scan of the characters and Impulse can be seen right [here].
Large 2-page shot: [1, 2]
And another of [Shin]

C.E. 73. 2 years have gone by since the war ended. Gilbert Durandal leads ZAFT after the death of Patrick Zala. An Orb-born Coordinator, Shin Asuka, becomes the newest topgun of ZAFT after Athrun's departure. His eyes reflects sorrow perhaps because he is lonely and lost his family. He himself represents the "War's Tragedy". Why did he join ZAFT and participate in the battlefield? Revenge? A mission? No one knows. Meanwhile, Athrun is part of Orb and right beside Cagalli. He worries both about the heavy burden of protecting Cagalli and the feeling to do something about the world.

One who joined ZAFT and one who left. The story begins when the two cross.

Shin Asuka - Protagonist. A Coordinator born in Orb. After losing his parents and younger sister during the Orb invasion of C.E. 71, he moved to PLANT and enlisted in ZAFT. Durandal finds him and he becomes a pilot of the Impulse Gundam. Very talented 16-year-old pilot. Wears the red uniform meaning he belonged in the top class of his military cadet school.

Lunamaria Hawk - A crew member of the battleship Minerva, which becomes the mothership of the Impulse. Wears the red uniform, elite pilot uniform identical to Shin's.

Athrun Zala - Now 18-years-old. Retired from ZAFT and defected to Orb. Doesn't use his real name, going by a pseudonym instead and serves as Cagalli's personal bodyguard. He was able to make acquaintance with Shin and others when he attended the secret conference between Cagalli and Durandal at PLANT.

Gilbert Durandal - After signing the Treaty of Junius (the Armistice Treaty) as the successor of the Temporary Council, he becomes the Supreme Chairman of the Council. He pushes forward with Clyne's political ideals and is deeply trusted by the common people. Currently seeking reconciliation with the Naturals.

ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam - ZAFT's newest Gundam. Relies on batteries instead of nuclear power. Since its energy can be replenished from a long distance by its mothership, the PS (Phase Shift) armor can operate a lot longer. The ****pit area can transformed into a fighter called the Core Splender. The Impulse can be broken up into 3 separate units. Like the Strike Gundam, the Impulse can be further equipped with 3 different packs (or mode). It is called the Force Impulse Gundam (ZGMF-X56S/á) when it's in the aile-mode.
