  Free gaming site
Posted by: Zagatto - 08-16-2004, 07:35 PM - Forum: Video Gaming - Replies (5)

I don't remember if I posted this site here or not at an earlier date.

Check out http://www.brettspielwelt.de/gate/jsp/ba...?nation=en if you like to play cool board and card games. The site is German but they do have support in English. Download the client first from the community section then you can log in and play a bunch of unique games at no charge.

If you do check it out, I'm Zagatto there as well. I usually play Tichu, San Juan, or TransAmerica even though I am always happy to try a new game. It was the option of playing Carcassonne online for free that first appealed to me.

  Music and Video Games
Posted by: Mantis421 - 08-16-2004, 01:34 PM - Forum: Video Gaming - Replies (28)

Well we all know that we get to the point with games that the music from them gets old so we slap the headphones on ot turn the vol down and turn the stereo up I have found that I listen to BT, Sasha, Digweed or carl cox during faster pace games or sports and Enigma, Deep Forest or ATP when playing Myst type games. Anybody else do this and what the music of choice?

  Flame War vs. Debate
Posted by: Zagatto - 08-16-2004, 05:07 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (38)

I've been having a heated discussion about cars in different thread and I just stepped back for a moment and asked myself if I was inciting a flame war or just having a good healthy argument.

The irony of that debate is that I find myself defending one person that I typically don't care for against someone that I typically agree with.

So what is the difference between a Flame War and a Debate?

For one, I enjoy debates. They are typically supported with facts and have opinions acknowledged for what they are. I believe flame wars are more often when one opinion goes up against another opinion without any support and just starts name calling.

I believe that if forums were all about agreeing with each other on everything that it would be a pretty boring place. At the same time, if all anyone did was call each other names I wouldn't want to be here either.

What do other people think about the differences and/or merits of debate vs. flame war?

What are people's thoughts on this game?

As for me, it is the first game I've gotten really excited about in a long, long while.
