Posted by: buffgod - 10-15-2004, 06:35 PM - Forum: Video Gaming - Replies (4)

I'm in the market for a Hard drive upgrade in my xbox. I just curios as what other people are using and how many gigs is the norm. There is a nice deal on a 200GIG HD from Seagate. Does anyone know if that will be compatible with a X-ecutor 3 chip.

Pirated version of Halo 2 widely available online
Posted by: Last Exile - 10-15-2004, 11:07 AM - Forum: Video Gaming - Replies (18)

this is great hope they dont decide to push the release date back. here is the article:

_____________________________________

Microsoft's biggest Xbox release for 2004 has been leaked to the Internet; surfaces on file-sharing sites. Company stands by official November 9 release date.
Late last night, 27 days before its officially scheduled retail release, a complete version of Microsoft's upcoming first-person shooter Halo 2 was leaked to the Internet. The pirated release, a PAL version of the game with French-language dialogue, is currently making its way around various Usenet newsgroups and peer-to-peer networks.

In a statement that Microsoft is sending only to media outlets that request comment, it admits the game "has been posted to various newsgroups and web sites."

While Microsoft says it is "currently investigating the source of this leak with the appropriate authorities," there has been no word on precisely where or how the game originally surfaced at this time, although Microsoft says it is actively tracing the leak. "Microsoft takes the integrity of its intellectual property extremely seriously, and we are aggressively pursuing the source of this illegal act."

It should be noted that players who download the game illegally could face a maximum penalty of $100,000 per instance for copyright violations. "We consider downloading this code or making it available for others to download as theft," the statement continues.

Reaction to the leak from developer Bungie, whose employees have spent most of the past three years developing Halo 2, was understandably more visceral. "We think this really sucks," read a staffer's post on the company's official Web site. "Aside from years of hard work being stolen from us, we've gone to great lengths to ensure that the details of the Halo 2 campaign remain a mystery."

"Microsoft," the post says, "is currently engaged in a full-scale investigation" to come down hard on "those foolish enough to partake in this piracy."

Another message, this one directed at the members of the bungie.net forums, warned of dire, sweeping consequences that would befall any member who posted screens stolen from the leaked game, or hinted that he or she had the game, or knew where to get it. "A link? on the forums will get you banned permanently [from the forums]." Worse, users whose GamerTag user name is listed in their user profile "risk having your Xbox Live account's ability to play Halo 2 crippled? We are NOT kidding around here."

"There's no doubt in my mind that Microsoft has people tracking down whoever was responsible for this," wrote the Bungie-appointed moderator on the forum. "I hope whoever it was thought that leaking the game was worth his job."

Halo 2, which continues the adventures of Master Chief with an all-new single-player adventure, as well as Xbox Live support for Internet-based multiplayer, is scheduled to hit retail shelves on November 9--a date that Microsoft says "remains unaffected."

thanks to Gamespot

  LOTR: An anime/more movies!?
Posted by: geo85 - 10-15-2004, 09:02 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (15)

Well I have been an anime junkie since I was 9 and an lord of the rings junkie since I was 10. I have seen the animated movies from the 70's and really like Peter Jacksons movies. But I think that seeing an anime on LOTR would be awesome. There are about 20 books of material that Tolkien wrote on middle earth. Someone could make lots of anime off this stuff. Of course Tolkiens family would have to agree. Does anyone else think that they should make anime LOTR?

  cowboy bebop trade-- great deal!
Posted by: MrSephiroth - 10-15-2004, 05:29 AM - Forum: DVD Trading - Replies (1)

I recently bought a 6 DVD All-Region Cowboy Bebop boxset off of ebay and after watching it countless times I really don't need it anymore. The set was imported from Hong Kong, so the English subtitles are quite bad, but the Japanese subtitles are spot on (I speak fluent Japanese) and the normal Japanese voice overs are the official voices (of course). There is also a VERY funny dubbed Chinese option if you so desire, along with Chinese subtitles. The DVD quality is perfect, and the DVDs themselves are in mint condition, thought the case they came in carries a few small cracks (from shipping). I recommend this item for someone who can understand Japanese well, just so they don't need the English subtitles. Because of this fact, I'm willing to trade this item for something of much lesser value.

Anyway, I really want to get a Logitech mouse, but I would like one that fiis good in the hand and has a mouse wheel that isnt smooth. I dont like smooth scroling, its crappy for games. If you guys could help me out, that would be great. My price range is from free to about $25. I may pay more if its really good. Oh and no wireless!

  Anime or Manga?
Posted by: Blight - 10-14-2004, 03:34 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (40)

I love anime but sometimes you just don?t get the whole story unless you read the Manga. Love Hina?s true and complete ending is not available in the anime and GTO is royally screwed because the show was scheduled to end before they finished the writing the manga. Their solution, if you can call it that, was to end it after one of the major plot revelations and give you some bullshit ending that really pissed me off! Instances like this really make me wonder witch is the better medium. So, when given the option witch do you prefer to purchase.

  Fav Episodes #10 Blue Gender
Posted by: Mantis421 - 10-14-2004, 05:27 AM - Forum: Anime Discussion - No Replies

This might be a hard one this week, for I even admit that Blue Gender does play out much the same as Escaflowne. It is a Sci Fi opera much like one long movie, but it still has a handful of episodes that caught my eye more then others. When I first watched Blue Gender I wasent really sure what to think of the series but episode by episode I got sucked in. The story oveal kept me more interested then the Blue or the Mech's. The ending isn't a total let down but it isn't quite what you expext after all the previous episodes with Tony, the last two almost seem unneeded. The episode I picked that for me I had to just stop and think about the meaning of after seeing it is the episode early in the series when Yugi is tring to understand why the people from second earth trat survivers on the planet as already dead. Yugi befriends the little girl Yuin and her dog and promises to save her, but in the end only gets to see her die. As always what was all of your takes or fav's from this series?
