One hot summer day, Juna died. Faced with the grief of her mother and her boyfriend Tokio, Juna was given a choice by a mysterious crippled boy named Chris: to pass onto another realm, or to try and save the Earth from the ravages of gigantic monsters known as Raja. Choosing the latter, Juna was given the power of to become Earth Maiden Arjuna, the Avatar of Time who fights with the planet's power.
Arjuna is Shouji Kawamori's work after he went certifiably insane in the years after his last work Escaflowne. Having joined a nature cult, he created Arjuna as a tribute to the Earth. The show itself is a rather surreal magical girl show laden with Hindu imagery. There's heavy-handed environmentalist themes, though, so be prepared.<br />
