you know, if you are taught something is bad your whole life then it is hard to even imagine breaking away from it.
I do find it really interesting though...
Cool

My entire family is catholic, I was brought up to be a catholic (went to sunday school, etc) and yet I'm an atheist. At least to me breaking away was easy.

I'm jealous but not that jealous. In fact we look at girls together and comment on whether they're hot or not! Wink

I was exaggerating a little bit. Rolleyes He and I have watched Hentai together before and even a little of the more soft core porn, but I was referring to something that happened in our past that's history now. We've had our share of problems. If I was that jealous, I'd probably have gone nuts by now! We go clubbing occasionally and it's damn near impossible NOT to look at other girls there!

I know what you mean. I was brought up Baptist and I definitely don't follow it anymore. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm an atheist, but it definitely wasn't difficult for me to break away from that. Hell, if I were still Baptist, I wouldn't be visiting my fiance the way I am right now.

Yah, I understand, I am pretty commited to my religion, so it goes along with the not wanting to be a hypocrite thing. I personally feel that for ME it is wrong, but I have no business telling others how to live.Big Grin Plenty of people do have a negative or just an apathetic view of their religious upbringing so it is pretty easy to find another comfortable way of life. I think that people should just find what works for them, whatever it is...Wink

Hey Zagatto, has your daughter met your mistress? She's around 4 years old, right? I've never met anyone in an open relationship before and your story's very fascinating. Does your wife know who she is too? Have they met? I'm glad you and your wife are happy and are so open with each other. It must take a lot of trust to be able to do something like that and just like any relationship, a lot of work to keep it together.

Also a lot of it has to do with my religious/moral background too, you know, if you are taught something is bad your whole life then it is hard to even imagine breaking away from it.

Yeah, I agree. And a lot of it has to do with the individual as well, like their personality and how they take criticism and other people's views of them. I have two other brothers. I am Catholic, one's brother athesist, and another's agnostic. My brother that's an athesist is also gay. He hasn't told anybody in the family and the only reason I know about it is because I found his school website on google and read his online journal. I know he's having a tough time right now and I am waiting for him to confess to me or thinking of how to bring it up. I think because of how religious my parents are, he will disappoint them further, but he needs to realize that my parents and his siblings will support him no matter what.

My boyfriend and I do that all the time too... I try not to do it too much because I can get pretty moody sometimes and might get mad at him if he comments too much.. especially during that time of the month. Hmmm.. now that I think about it, we comment about hot girls all the time, but I don't point out not even a quarter of hot guys I see. It just doesn't work the same way

My daughter is just a little over two (born April 2002) and she has met my mistress. Last month my mistress spent a few nights here hanging out before we went on our big road trip. It was pretty funny because Katina called her "gramma" while she was here. The weekend before that my mother-in-law stayed here and the weekend before that my mom stayed here. So I guess that Katina calls any woman that spends the weekend here "gramma".

As for my wife knowing, it was my wife who let me know my mistress was in an open marriage. From there things just took off between the pair of us.

It does take a fair amount of work and a LOT of trust to make the relationship work. There was one time when I got a bit jealous of one of my wife's lovers because of all the time the two of them were spending together so we closed the relationship for a while to work on our relationship a bit more. She's made the same request of me in the past when troubles developed between the pair of us.

I can't stress enough how important communication is. I've seen a few open relationships explode when one person started keeping secrets about their rendezvous. Speaking of other couples, it helps knowing a few other people who are also in open marriages to be able to talk things over with and have a sympathetic ear when it's needed.

I've started rambling again... once I get rolling on the subject I find it so easy to keep on going.

Any more questions?

You need to watch Marmalade Boy. I'm sure you could relate.

I've been passing Marmalade Boy around with my friends. I actually know two couples that moved in together because they loved each others spouses so much.
Come to think of it... they still have my Marmalade Boy set...

And they all ended up getting divorced, swapping partners and getting married again... now I'm not sure where they all live...

...And I take it her husband has a Mistress as well then?
I'm slowly trying to understand all this.
My mind is fighting it...upbringing, you understand.
I feel like I'm a big meany for not agreeing with you, but life wouldn't be interesting if we all just got along.
It's interesting that you and your wife can maintain that type of relationship. It's very unusual. I guess you can say I'm intrigued by the fact that both of you decided this, and are making it work.
*Goes cross-eyed*
Usually when I don't understand something, I try to put myself in that persons place...your wife's place in this particular situation. I try to figure out the motives...thought patterns...reasons. This one is causing me a headache, it is truely something beyond my imagination.
I'll shut up now.
