2004 Olympics: anybody care?
#16
Well, i used to love the olympics for the U.S. Basketball "Dream Team" when they used to completely dominate the sport. Now, the "dream team" is pretty much a bunch of overpaid guys and not legends like larry bird, magic, and jordan.
Teabagging girls' chins since 1983.
I get pumped when watching porno.

Another thing I thought of that has soured me to the games is the presense of all the 'performance enhancers'. If they aren't out and out taking steroids, they are trying to take some legal drug to basically cheat. I mean does anyone remember the 88' games when Ben Johnson got his gold medal stripped? That was nuts. Lots of stuff went downhill after that. There was always a suspicion that these athletes were 'cheating' one way or another.

When they let snowboarding in that was awsome... Was Nagano the first to have it? I used to snowboard at that time so loved watching it... Extreme sports I could watch all day...

U forgot the greatest ever, Kareem Abdul Jabbar

no NBA player has ever scored more points, blocked more shots, won more MVP awards, played in more All-Star Games, or logged more seasons.

Yah, sometimes the olympics just seem boring now. When you compare it with stuff like the 'strongman' competitions. There is just something awesome about a guy doing a dead lift with a volkswagen.

Well the games can have some boring spots. I am not going to watch badminttion, and I hate all the coverage the "Women's Softball" team get's beacuse there are "Hot Chicks" on the team. Hell a magzine complemnts one team and insluts it in the same sentance. "China's star piture threw a no hitter, in a pre-game before the Olympics, but she is not good looking." What kind of crap is that.

I am looking forward to the Decathlon, Gymnastics, Swimming, and Diving. That will be enough for me. Weight Lifting is cool to watch as well.

What do you people think about gymnastic judging controversy in which Paul Hamm won the gold medal for men's all around because of judging mistake?

And what is the most fair way to correct the mistake?
1.Should he return the gold medal?
2.Should a duplicate gold medal be awarded?
3.Should it be left as it is?

Well, if there was a a judging mistake that means the gold medal was wrongfully awarded and therefore it should be returned.
But honestly, that situation didn't piss me off half as much as what happened on the Men's Horizontal Bar Final. Alexei Nemov was amazing! Much better than the previous gimnasts and fairly better than the ones that followed him, yet because of the judges stupidity he ended up in 5th place! Were they blind?!!! He was absolutely fantastic, it completely took my breath away, even the guy commenting said so! And then the judges go and award him a lousy score! No wonder the public booed the judges! I felt like kicking their ass! It's not that the other gimnasts weren't good, what happened was not their fault, Alexei Nemov was just superior!

I'm going to have to disagree with that Andromeda18_. It was the 3 judges' fault for incorrectly scoring Kim Dae Eun. If anything the judges should be penalized, which they have. I still give Hamm much credit for putting such an amazing come-back performance and if anything he deserved the gold medal. Both athletes deserved it in fact. Why does this remind me of the 2002 winter olympics pair ice-skating deal...?
Love is like heaven but hurts like hell.

Indeed, the judging was horrible last night . Howver, if I were a judge, I would still give the gold medal to Cassina (Italian) and Nemov a silver. The Italian guy's routine was also incredible and I think he derserved the gold because he had a better landing. I have never seen anyone else does two incredibly difficult release moves while twisting twice in the air.

But 5th place for Nemov? Yea......judges were blind........ He should've gotten at least a medal.

I couldn't believe that crazy crowd reaction last night. It just went on forever. I agree that Nemov should have gotten the silver, but then again, I am partial to Russians...Big Grin
