  Out of ideas...?
Posted by: TeaganNash - 02-05-2003, 03:46 PM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (108)

I have noticed that some of the newer anime that is out on the market just doesn't seem original (especially in the year 2000) now that doesn't mean that I'm saying that all anime that has been made in the past three years is nothing but bad, just that the older anime ( the ones made before the year 2000) usually are leagues better than any of the new stuff. However, the new millenia shows signs of GREAT promise (Boogiepop Phantom, One Piece, .hack//SIGN, Azumanga Daioh, Noir, Excel Saga, and Cowboy Bebop I can't remember if Bebop was made in 2000 or not I think it was made in 1998, Crest of the Stars is pretty good too). Tell me what you think.

When I got my first issue of Newtype magazine, I read about two new anime series: Heatguy J, and Getbackers. I wanted to know if anyone else had more information on these two series... Thus a new topic is born.

  Anyone MMORPG fan?
Posted by: JunkieJoe - 02-05-2003, 06:10 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (7)

I used to play EverQuest (2 years down the drain hehe) and I dabbled in Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online, Earth and Beyond, Ashrons Call 2 and few others not worth mentioning (like NeoCron)

found out a few days ago that ShadowBane is gonna be released end of March (next month) after like 5 years in development I think I will take a peak when it comes out...

Anyone gonna try that? I mean play it moderatly hehe (EverCrack addiction has been kicked and lessoned learned... real life is more real than EverQuest life LOL) (had a few guild members in EverQuest loose girlfriends and 1 even get divorsed cause of it!)

Anyhow, I will probably see Shibo's wife there ^_^ if anyone else wants to join, maybe we can get on same server ;p

Later folks.

I am just wondering if an anime has been made out of Watase's Alice 19th or Imodoki. Actually, my girlfriend wants to know but that's not the point.

Thanks!

  Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Collection
Posted by: DePingus - 02-03-2003, 05:55 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (5)

Greets. Im new to this board. Seems like a great community!

I know someone posted this earlier, but it never got a real answer before the thread skewed off topic.

Anyone seen the Neon Genesis Perfect Collection recently made available over at Animeniacs? Its seems real popular over there (they have it on backorder). Someone must have it! Anyone know which company released it? I'm waiting for it to arrive over there before I place an order, unless of course someone advises against it.

Thanks for the info!

  Mini Getter Robo review
Posted by: Vinny - 02-03-2003, 05:06 PM - Forum: Anime Discussion - Replies (4)

Hey folks. I'm home sick today, and luckily my Getter Robo DVDs came, so i had something to keep me busy. Here's a quick review for them. I've only watched the first few episodes, so won't do an official review on it till I'm done with the show and they get it up on this here review list (hint hint Tongue )
Anyways, I'm not totally sure who it's by. I'm assuming AV, because that's what it said when I bought it off of Animeniacs. Doesn't really matter I guess. No logos anywheres on the package or in the show itself.
Video is awesome, especially for a show of it's age. No graininess or any faults in it. Very clear. Must be an LD or possibly even a DVD rip.
Sound comes through crisp and clear, too. Lot's of yelling in this show, and my TV's speakers couldn't handle it that well at the volume level I was watching it at Tongue
The subtitle part is where Animeniac's review had it wrong. These are Very Good. Going by this site's star ranking, I'd give them a 3.5/4. Yes, names are there original ones. But some of the attacks and other English type speech gets a little wierd. Like they sub 'Getter Tomahawk' as Getter Ax. Nothing that terrible. YOu can hear what they're really saying in the audio, but still a bit wierd. Grammar is pretty good too. I'm not talking HK original, but they are a step below perfect English. Very understandable, no thinking what was said neccessary. Oh, one of the characters, Michiru (Musashi's "Mona Lisa" Tongue ) is subbed as "Man." Weird, to say the least.
This show is a classic peice of Super Robot anime. From the creative mind of Go Nagai, famous for Mazinger Z. It's about 3 young boys who come together to pilot the Getter Robo, a robot consisting of three seperate planes that combine into three different robots. They battle the Dinosaur Empire and there constant attacks of there Robot Dinosaurs.
Yes, I know what you're thinking. How cheesey can you get? But this is an awesome piece of anime! It's a classic. A must see!
For those who have only experienced Getter Robo in the form of the OVA "Last Days of Earth," this is TOTALLY different.
Anyways, highly recommended again. Now let's hope someone releases the show's sequels, Getter Robo G and Getter Robo Go Smile GETTER ONE!! SWITCH ON!!!!!!
