Madmans's Ranma 1/2 R4(Australian) release, good source for new sets?

For anyone who didn't know, the first box set of Ranma 1/2 came out in Australia last month, released by Madman video box 2 is set for preorder the 25th and box 3 is pending preorder.

Its near 3-5 YEARS late to the US release but at least Australians will get to see the show now...

http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews2/disc_...s/5187.php

Although this review is very tentive and doenst really tell you anything, besides the fact that the video has the same master as the viz version, with different menus...

However... I have some australian friends on AIM, and although it does have the same video source as the VIZ version its a much newer transfer of the source and when compaired side by side to the R1 release does show some improvement.

Absolutley terrible picture-wise?

I watched the Heat Guy J set a while ago and that had 12 eps on 1 disc, with some extras too! and it wasn't bad at all...

Anyone, apart from the one reviewer seen it and care to comment?

i have just recently bought a dvd pack off of ebay. it had 186 eps of Naruto, 2 movies, and a special. im only on episode 20. the language was japanese with subs. usually i hate subs. but it seemed to work fine for Naruto. the description for the dvds said it was the complete set. but i thought it was still being broadcasted in Japan and that new eps were coming out. so which is it?

I've wanted to make this thread for a while, but since most music threads died on the first page, I didn't. But screw it.

Just post what you are listening to right now, and any thoughts feelings about it if you'd also like.

Ignite - Know Your History. I almost smiled my face off the first time I heard this song. It is a punk-hardcore song, that is political in message, but isn't preachy. Basically tells you to know your history to make your own judgments, because it looks like it will repeat itself. Also, the vocals for this group totally go off in a different direction than most hardcore bands of today. Meaning they actually sing, and very well.

I watched episode 1 a few hours ago and am now going through the process of getting my hands on the remaining 23 episodes. Wink
Has anybody watched it? Is it any good? I enjoyed episode 1, but well, it's just one episode.

  Anyone reading any good manga?
Posted by: gubi-gubi - 07-07-2006, 10:00 AM - Forum: General Babble - Replies (16)

Just thought we could maybe have a thread to see if anyone is reading any good manga at the moment and see what people recommend.

Anyway I just finished Mermaids Saga and it was pretty good. Didn't really develop but was a good read you could just pick up without worrying about what has happened before. Slightly different then Takahashi's normal work, nice and dark without much comedy.

Read the first few volumes of Rurouni Kenshin which was good. Thought it would be a bit overrated but im enjoying it.

Read volume one of Beck which was OK. Slower paced than the anime (only saw the first couple of episodes but it starts later on than the manga I think) but could be a nice read but not a high priority.

Lastly I read Legal Drug volume 1 by Clamp. Strange manga that kind of leaves you wondering what the hell is going on as not much is revealed after one volume. Going to carry on reading it as it's only a few volumes long as it got cancelled in Japan as it didn't go down too well. I love Clamp so will keep with it but it may not be for everyone...

Out of them all I highly recommend Mermaids Saga (it's only four volumes as well) but they are all worth checking out. Anyone else got any recommendations?
