In a stunning announcement, Viz/ShoPro Entertainment revealed its plans to sell the the North American television, home video, and merchandising rights to Naruto back to it original licensors, TV Tokyo and Shueisha Inc.
"We began to feel uncomfortable with the idea of making piles of cash from the show," a Viz representative told ANN. "After several parent advocacy groups showed us the error of our ways, we felt it was the only logical decision."
ANN also contacted Cartoon Network, which had planned to broadcast Naruto later this year.
"Thank God, I can use my mailbox again," said an executive VP at the network. "Within minutes of our broadcast announcement, we were flooded with thousands of e-mails claiming to be from enraged mothers."
"They were all the same. 'Naruto Uzumaki, he's a mischievous little brat!' 'By choosing to broadcast this show, you are directly responsible for the moral decline of our country's youth.' They said I would rot in hell, and that my family would face eternal damnation if I allowed Naruto to reach American airwaves."
When asked how this would impact their licensing plans for 2005, the Viz representative gave another stunning response. "With California's new stem cell initiative and the breakthroughs at Johns Hopkins in placing human stem cells in rats, we asked ourselves: why not hamsters? Imagine, a real-life talking hamster! That would shut up all those folks who keep mocking Hamtaro."
I've just recently been hooked on this new drug called 'anime' and while watching El Hazard for the first time I noticed something strange. I watched The Magnificent world + ova's and it said that Makoto was transported by Ifurita with the last of her power. I then watched The Alternative World and it gave refrence to Makoto arriving to El Hazard via school project. He arrived to El Hazard in The Wanderers by Jinnai messing with his project. I thought the first two had nothing to do with the TV release?

Just wondering, has anyone of you ever found out accidentally that someone actually show case his HKs anime as R1s?
I was looking at some1's, M, so called 'R1' anime collection at DVD Aficionado and I was so impressed that he had like 1100+++ anime dvds in less than 1 year. Admist busy admiring them, I 'accidentally' read abt him bragging that he just made a HUUUGE HK purchase and had such a HUUUUUGE backlog that it would take him months and months to finish watching all of them.
I was like "HUH?" then I looked at his anime collection again and saw newly added ones, which are the exact titles which he did partially give on his HUUUGE HK purchase.
I was like, BLOODY HELL, here I was admiring the R1s when the main bulk turned out to be HKs.
I don't think that it's disgraceful to own HKs but I sure think it's hypocritical to impersonate them as R1s. The worst is, Mr. M, is always reminding people that he's only interested in R1s, his 1000+ backlog in R1s blah blah blah.....
That's why everytime I see his posts, I feel so disgusted and he wonders why I don't return his msn msgs.....
Maybe I'm over-reacting but seriously, it's like a dream shattered....ahhahahahahahha
but it sure pisses me off coz I was so full of admiration and so impressed with the anime collection (actually wished I could have that much in less than a year) only to realize that my 'feelings' have been cheated!!! HAHAHAHAHHA :eek: :p
According to Diamond Comics' "Previews" magazine, a new manga magazine from Viz, "Shojo Beat", will begin publication in June (with a July cover date).
By the description, "Shojo Beat" is, more or less, a companion series to "Shonen Jump" -- like Jump, Beat will have several manga series in each issue (the first issue is said to have 330 pages in length), plus extra articles pertaining to Japanese culture. The exception, though, is that "Shojo Beat" will, as the name implies, feature "shojo" (romance) stories, aimed at girls (Jump is action-based, aimed at boys).
The cover price for the first issue is US$5.99.
The question, though, is how well do Shojo stories sell, as compated to action manga, and how well do you think Beat will sell (especially since there's currently no shojo anime in the US to tie in with the manga featured in that magazine, unlike Jump, where most of the stories also have an anime series to go along with it)?

Ok i just ordered an anime from anime cheap cus i found some titles i wanted. One of them being berserk which i just ordered today. But when i opened it there was some sort of glue on the inner ring of the cd and the inside of the cd holder had glue in it aswell. I emailed the guy about it and he kept giving me crap of it being cosmetic and not defective. I have talked to puppet master about it and he's saying it might be a tracer blocker. But the glue marks are only on the 2nd and 3rd cd so why wouldn't it be on the first disc aswell? I was also wondering if there is a way to remove this (whatever it is) without fucking the cd up.
I just finished this AWESOME korean drama called "Stairway to Heaven". And I thought it had an amazing plot and characters. Here is the synopsis of the show.
