OKAY! This disc sucks! I has NO English sub, and seeing as how I enhoy my anime subtitled, much more than I enjoy dubs, I can tell you TRULY, that this disc sucks. Oh, yes! It sucks hard! Video-- (4.5/5) The video was very, very pretty. Something that I would write home to mother about, if I lived away from my mother. (Which I wish I did.) The video ocasionally blurred, which got rather annoying, but it was tolerable after a long, long time of getting used to it. Perhaps the blurring was just my player, though. *_* I have a VERY crappy player... *_* Audio-- (3/5) Mediocre, at BEST. The sound drained out CONSTANTLY, and then the sound was fuzzy! If you're going to have bad audio, at least only have ONE bad aspect with the audio! Jesus! Subtitles-- (na/5) WELL! Guess this shouldn't even have a section, should it?! SHOULD IT!? This is what made me HATE this damn disc. If there was a sub, I wouldn't be so mad, but NOOOO~OOOO! I have to watch some CRAPPY dub! I REALLY wish that there was some way I could watch this subtitled on HK dvd... -_- Content-- (3/5) Eh! The feature wasn't so hot. It was actually pretty bad, and normally, I like RoLW stuff... *_* Perhaps it was the horrible dub that made it so, so bad. ANYWHO! The disc itself isn't nice at all. I wouldn't recomend this disc to ANY RESPECTABLE ANIME FAN. Beware, folks, beware. edited by SomebodyKillMe on 29 Jun 2002 11:19 pm

No offence but why does the guy who commented before me posts the same thing both under the MI set as well? I'm complaining because i was mislead in a way. The set i purchased is by Anotherdvd which is the same company(previous name) as Anime Studio. The video quality is not good and looks far from dvd quality. I have a vcd version of the series and the difference in quality is Only that the pixels have been removed. Now the audio is the main problem. They have 2 Jap audio channels and 2 english audio channels for selection. The Jap audio is flawless but don't forget there aren't any english subtitles on this set. Both english audio sucks. I am on chapter 4 of the first disc and have experienced a constant crackling background sound for the first 3 chapters. I've tested disc 2 and 3, both have the same problem thought i only have tried the initial episode on both these discs. I can't stand the audio and i doubt you can too. I've tried it on bosch sound system, 2 speakers and tv speakers, you just can't get rid of it. If you lower the volume until it becomes less irritable, chances are you can't catch some parts of the dialogue. Very disappointed!

[Review of series as compared to the R1 release] Video: 4 -Started Grainy, but quickly recovered and remained at a 'good' quality throughout the rest of the series. 'good' = Nice, but not exactly sharp. This is more a problem with the original production and not the transfer. Audio: 4 -Like the video, the audio started out poorly, but recovered after the first 10-15 minutes. The problems consisted of an annoying background hiss and the occasional crackle. Subtitles: 5 (Chinese) / 0 (English) -No English Subtitles! This is a big negative for the series, but the dub is OK (although not recommended) so its not a total loss. Extras: 0 -No extras Menus: 4 -Simple, boring, functional -Contains: Play Movie, subtitle, language, and scene. -I could have done the same thing with a VCD (Video CD) menu maker. Effective, but nothing special. -No music playing in background of menus. Packaging: 5 -A very durable box w/the original Japanese art. -The DVD labels are also of a high quality and are attractive in appearance. I don't know for sure, but the labels look to be exact duplicates from the Japanese release. 3 DVD's each w/their own cases inside a hard cardboard box. Content: 3 -'Dungeons & Dragons' says it all [Read below for details] -Credits are played once and then skipped for the following episodes. [Personal Opinion] ---------------- A series about swords and magic? Cool. Well, its not for everyone. If your looking for incredible heros and fantastic adventures, you might want to keep looking. This series is very realistic in its approach to a D&D style world. i.e. Imagine the anime 'Bastard' without the cool powers, comedy, and excessive violence. Now you know what ROLW is. The animation itself was mediocre. I can only imagine that the budget for this series didn't go beyond what little change I have in my pocket. Honestly, I have seen less still frames/screen pans in a Dragon Ball Z standoff. The audio was acceptable, but nothing special. I really don't have any complaints except that I wish the dub had been handled differently. A quality English dubbing like that found in 'Hand Maid May' could have really helped. Did the story save it? Not for me. I could have gotten the same ammount of entertainment watching day-time TV. Ok, my review is a little harsh, but this series came highly recommended and I was let down. I did however find the "second Part" (Kind of a cartoonish intermission between episodes)to be a fun change of pace from the actual show. In conclusion.. This is a series that did not really appeal to me. Fans of D&D may appreciate this style of anime, but the average person will probably not watch this series a second time. --- To give you an idea of my taste in anime, here are a few titles that I have enjoyed: -Trigun -Love Hina -Cowboy Bebop -Lain -Outlaw Star -Tenchi -Hand Maid May -Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) Go here for a complete list of titles I own: http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=lifestop# -lifestop

This a great set if you like dubs.... The English audio is in 5.1 and the japanese in 2.0. too bad that you only got chinese subs so no english subtitles.
