My set had some technical difficulties around episode 17 to 18 where it wouldn't read, but all is well now because i just got the perfect set.

Content: 5/5 - Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime of all times, besides Trigun and Hellsing. I loved the anime, and I plan to get the movie once it comes out on Hybrid DVD (DVD with both Japanese and English audio tracks plus English subtitles). Video: 4/5 - Video quality good, but could have been better had they not squezed the series onto 3 DVDs. Audio: 5/5 - No problems here. Subtitles: 1.5/5 - Subtitles are absolutely horrid. The names are nearly all correct because that's how they pronounce/spell most of them in Japanese. But the rest of the subtitles are horrid. It's a good thing I only watched the subtitled version once, then I decided to only watch it raw in Japanese if I watch it again. Spike - Spiku (Perfect tranlation) Faye - Faye (Perfect translation) Jet - Jeto (Perfect translation) Rein - Rin (Nearly perfect translation) Bicious - Bicious (Perfect.) Shin - Shin (Perfect) As you can see 99.9% of the names were translated correctly, the rest of the translations were clearly subtitled by somebody who can't speak Japanese/English. the AS and "old AI/MI" version are identical: they are the same "no english dub" version (which is crap). video -- ok, (it's not the original), doubled telesined & bad flickering sometimes audio -- fine subs -- bad; readable, but wrong/shortend translated, all names wrong, showing duration ist *much* too short autoring -- bad; main parts of episodes clipped together RESULT: the subs *kills* the fun of this show quickly. They popup so fast, you can't even "watch" anime. So BEWARE on any cost !!!

Jesus... -_- One of the worst sets around! And, once again, it is ALL thanks to th damn SUBTITLES. :^/ Shoot me for buying this... And, if you ever buy it... Shoot yourself too! Video-- (5/5) PERFECT! Beautiful quality that can possibly compare to that of Bandai's R1 release. In ONE scene, in the NINETH episode, there is a slight bit of overall darkness for about five minutes, but it's short and tolerable. That's probably my only complaint about the video for this set. Other than that, it is marvelous. One hundred percent perfection. Audio-- (3.99/5) HERE'S A TOUGHY! I had NO idea what to give the audio here! A very confusing audio, indeed. On some episodes it is MARVELOUS! On others, it sucks hardcore llama tail. I just DIDN'T know what to give it... *_* So, I wound up giving it a three point ninety-nine. :^/ I know it's a nerdy rating, but it's probably true. *_* Subtitles-- (1.5/5) GAHHHHH!!!! They ruined what could have been a wonderful dvd! They ruined it!!! Some of the WORST subtitles EVER. BArely (If at all) comprehensible. These discs could have been SOO good... -_- Why did they have to make crappy subs.... Why, oh, why!?! Somebody kill me... -_- Content-- (5/5) A MARVELOUS series! One of the best series of the nineties! (Along with EVA and Lain.) A highly reccomended SERIES. But, BEWARE OF THE EVIL HK dvds! I'd suggest the Bandai's official R1 releases. They are of vey good quality, and the box set has pretty artwork. :^P

Review of Cowboy Bebop [AS] ------------------------------------- I'll keep this review short as there is little point in reading about the AS version of Cowboy Bebop. Just skip this DVD set all together and go buy the FloraChanxxx version: 'Cowboy Bebop Perfect Collection' http://import-anime.com/index.php?page=view&id=637 -- For those of you that are still interested in reading a review about the AS version of Cowboy Bebop, please continue... Video: 4 1/2 -Great quality. -A few extremely minor errors not worth noting. (although I could have missed something while staring in horror at the terrible subtitles) Note: I only forced myself to watch the first 3 episodes! Sound: 5 -No complaints here. -Fantastic music & Sound effects Subtitles: 1 -Terrible -Spelling mistakes/grammar errors/engrish/subs going off screen/not staying on screen long enough. Basically every subtitle problem that HK anime has ever experienced. I could have done a better job subbing with a Japanese-to-English dictionary. SCARY subs. I guarantee that you will not be able to read these subtitles and enjoy the show! You would be lucky to even get a basic idea of what was happening. Extras: 0 -None =( Menus: 3 -Non-Animated, simple, functional -contains: Play All, Chapter Select, Subtitles, and Next Intro. -Unattractive menus that I could have easily created myself using Nero's VCD menu creator. Nothing special. Packaging: 5 -Hard cardboard box w/3 individual DVD cases (full size). -Great boxart/labels/DVD case art -No complaints about the packaging. Considering the audio and video were sourced from the North American DVD release, it's odd that the subtitles weren't also ripped. Oh well. Skip this release unless you can understand Japanese, or read Chinese (I'm assuming that the Chinese subtitles are okay). The subs are so awful they are mistimed and make no sense at all. The video and audio were crappy to semi crappy. Though this set would make a great gag joke!

This set would be worth if it the subtitles weren't so crappy. The audio and video are as good as they come when dealing with HK DVD's, but the subtitles are just an insult to English. From all the eps I viewed, I don't think there were more than a few lines that made perfect sense. Go with the FX DVD's or the R1's.

To say that I was dissapointed when I watched this would be an understatement!! Bebop has been one of my favorite animes of all time and AS just ripped it all to shreds. Their sub job was done by someone who has absolutely no understanding of the english language. And I'm usually not bothered too much by bad subs - but this one almost made me cry. And the video isn't exactly dvd quality - maybe the source was divx or something. Who knows?? But I hope they redo this series someday cuz it sure isn't worth it as is right now!

I remember the first time I saw this series and thought about how awesome it was. After attempting to decipher the subtitles of this HK release, I turned it off and told my roommate what an idiot he was for paying money for it. Then I laughed at him. He sold it fairly quickly to a local music store. Then we both had a good laugh on behalf of the poor soul who would end up buying it from them. I still laugh sometimes to this day.
