As my title said, this set is good for the price, as this will cost well under $70 from the Pioneer American release. As a side note, I purchased the Animation video release of this set, but it turns out to be a ripped version of the AS version (with the AS logo). Video - 3/5 This set has some really really beautiful animation, and on slow, or non-moving scenes the video shows it, and looks really beuatiful, but on motion-intensive scenes, the macroblocks come out a lot more so than usual. That's the only reason this is knocked down 2 points. I do think that this video came directly from the R1 source, so that's why it looks as nice as it does (aside from the macroblocks) Audio - 3/5 I was kinda disapointed with the audio in two ways. The english dub (which is one of the few that I actually like) is out of sync in some areas (in episode 1 it's a whole second or more behind the video, which pisses me off since that's a great episode), and the Japanese Audio is a little muffled. But the redeeming qualities are that the Japanese track doesn't seem to go out of sync that much more often later on, and the Japanese audio isn't that bad sounding. It does in fact sound pretty good, but I was kinda mad that it wasn't taken care of better. Subs - 4/5 The subs and video seem to be a direct R1 rip (but I think the subs were a different color on the R1 rip), which is kinda agitating since they liked putting the subs bunched up in corners, and not the traditional centered text. But since they're from the R1 release, the names are correct, and the subs are very readable. Overall the set is a great buy, as Tenchi Muyo is a great series. If you really want to, you can pick up the Pioneer set for more money, but what it comes down to is whether or not you are willing to get this set which is a little more inferior, but save over $70 on your set, or if you want to go all out and get the R1 set.

The Video Quality of this series was seriously lacking (AS) It was the same as watching a VCD or video cassette
Audio:
The audio was even worse than the video (AS). I only viewed the Japanese audio version on this dvd because I already know how horrible the Dubbing is for this series. The audio was barely audible and it was also mistimed (it wasn't in sync with the video on several occasions) [[that really ticked me off]]

If I could give an overall rating, it would be a 3 star DVD (AS). A great series and probably the cheapest version of the DVD available. If your low on money and like this DVD, you might as wel pick it up, but if you can, get the R1 released by Pioneer. Alot more expensive, but alot more quality. Its your choice though; cash or quality...l

The first review sums this up pretty well, but I just want to add on that the japanese audio track is nasty. Its muffled and has a bit of a hum in the background. What makes this even more annoying is the fact that the english track is perfect, and when switching between the two you can really notice the difference. If only it was the other way around (I hate dubs).
