This set is an ok buy since Record of Lodoss war is out of print on DVD anymore in America. This seems to be the only way to go anymore if you want to pick this set up on DVD Video - 3/5 The set looks as though it was taken from an OK source. It may be Tape, but I'm not sure. There is a bit of grain in the animation, though I'm not sure if the grain is from the actual Film source (since the anime is over 10 years old), or from the tape or LD source. Either way the grain is pretty noticable, but doesn't detract too much from this set. Audio - 4/5 From what I remember this set's audio wasn't all that bad, I didn't detect any sort of hum, hiss or crackle (or at least remember for that matter), but over all really good. Subs - 2/5 Despite what people say, the subs are somewhat understandable. There are a lot engrish sayings all over the place, and there tends to be misspelled names, but the text isn't too hard to decipher, but since it is Engrish, the overall grade does suffer. In my opinion, this set is a great buy since the American sets are out of production, but if you do somehow find the american set, Do buy it since it's not going to be too expensive (usually somewhere around $50 or so dollars), but I can't vouche for any quality increase since the set is also only 2 DVDs as well, but the subs are sure as hell going to be better. The only thing holding this set back would have to be the subtitles.

I couldn't even watch this one. And I'm usually not bothered by bad sub jobs. It wasn't just that the names were all wrong, the grammer and phrases were not understandable ( at least to me). i guess they translated this from the chinese audio or something because i was constantly hitting *pause* to see if i could make out what they meant by whatever they said. It seems to be extremely literally translated. The audio and video weren't that hot either. I'd suggest buying this one only if you are a die hard Lodoss fan or if you are very low on funds for your anime budget and really want this series.

First of all when I bought this DvD, I knew nothing about HK DvD's. I saw Records of Lodoss war in a shop lying. And it was only for 60 Hk$ so that is about 20 guldens so it should be around $10. It was very cheap so I couldn't resist myself not buying it. Okay enough talking let's do the review. The box from lodoss has a nice hard cover and the front cover has a good picture. The box contains two DvD's. one containing 7 episodes and the other has 6 episodes. inside the box there is a soft sponnzy thing in it. This is great because it can protect the two DvD's from scratching against it. The Subs aren't good. The names are written from chinese speech for example: the main character is called Pahn but it is written as Pakhmo or something like that. The grammar is also bad. The video and sound quality are also not that great. But still I didn't regret buying Record of Lodoss War on DvD. Because it was that cheap
