Being an avid Final Fantasy fan, I bought a bunch of these for the store, without reading a review. I should have. This is a very lackluster product. Sound quality is 2/5. video quality 3/5. If youve played the game, you dont need this video. Youre not going to see anything new thats not already in the original PS2 game. You do get all the CGIs in their proper places, but fans of the game know that you can acquire these within the game, and watch them all in true 5.1 surround. So,if you dont own a PS2, its worth the price just to experience this game! Dont bother watching a movie version of it.

I didn't expect it to look as good as the actual game, but I expected the video quality to be better than this. Some parts are too light; if I adjust the monitor, then other parts are too dark. It is also not as clear as some other HK DVD's. The sound is not bass-y enough, lacking a real "stereo quality". The English subs are understandable; didn't give me a headache trying to decipher them. Most names are changed, although they appeared to be trying since attempting to say them phoenetically, it came rather close (at one point I could have sworn they called Lulu Wendy, but now I'm beginning to wonder if it was someone else or I just imagined it since it never happened again). The Chinese subs are actually in the game, so they don't go away at all. The *most* annoying aspect is that there is the company's watermark in the top right-hand corner that *never* goes away. It is not the outline sort nor is it all that small. On a computer monitor, it would be larger than the average messageboard "photographs" on most sites.

The video, audio, & subtiltles were great...but this does not make an anime it only potentially ruins an anime. I am not a huge Final Fantasy fan, but I did play Final Fantasy 7 & 8 for over a hundred hours. Half way into the anime I turned it off. Here is why: * I am not a big fan of CG (Exceptions include tastefully using 2D with 3d - Watch Initial D the Movie and you will understand. Final Fantasy in the theaters was also great.) * I felt like someone recorded themselves beating the video game. The storyline was so slow and choppy. The fights were boring. The character design was nice and I will probably get the game when it comes on a system that I own or I upgrade to a system that has this game, but I will probably give this anime to a Final Fantasy fan after they guarentee me that they will not think poorly of anime after watching it.
