Well the only reason I got this was that the characters were cute and so many people were dressed as characters from the show at anime conventions. They also merchandised this series like a Disney blockbuster. My mistake, I did not enjoy these short

Well, my opinion seems to differ greatly... Video (2.5/5, 4/5) dear God, is this a VCD source? Video is VERY faded and rather poor for the first CD. Second is a lot better. Audio (3.75ish/5) generally pretty good, but a few errors... when you notice things like that on my crappy sound setup, that's GOT to mean something. Subs (4/5 for first few eps, quickly 2-3/5, depending on the ep) They start out alright, and just get progressively worse, to the point that I had to read scripts from elsewhere to even have the slightest clue what everyone was saying. When suddenly, they'd be alright for a few lines, then back to crap. Packaging- (4.5/5) Nice, I like gatefolds. Good art, all around good presentation. Disc Content- (4/5) A lot of eps. (NOT complete, damn those guys at MI...) A music video, interview with the animators, a textless ending (or opening, I've forgotten), and two voice-actor things (meet the stars and a day in the life seems to be the best description). A lot of episode openings, only one or two endings... BUT, the chapter breaks are (thank god) after each INSANELY long opening sequence, so you can skip them and still watch all of the episode, though there's only one break per ep (hey, they're damn short...) Summary- Not a bad collection, pick it up if it's cheap. Course, if you want cheap, you can probably get the *complete* collection on VCD somewhere... Takes a while to warm up to (the DVD collection itself, not the series), but if you like DiGiCharat, it shouldn't take too long. edited by ragnorokk on 23 Oct 2002 9:57 am

Di Gi Charat is excellent. I have absolutely no problems with the sound or video (although it might get a little disturbing O_o). However, Manga's subtitles are PATHETIC. Other people seem to have liked them, but to me, it seemed like a Chinese person was sitting in Hong Kong with a Japanese-to-English dictionary, writing down words at random and sometimes getting the subtitles to go completely BERZERK (e.g., when I skip to Episode 12, it's already giving me Episode 13's subtitles). I don't know how it's possible, but despite my very limited knowledge of Japanese, I found this DVD easier to understand with the subtitles off than with them on. It gets worse with every episode, so that by the time you're on the second disc, Dejiko is saying things like "Cosmic death bunny of courage to surrender!", so I just switched 'em off. I don't know about the other people who reviewed this. Maybe I got the gaijin edition.

"DiGi Charat" is an ADORABLE series. I think Puchiko is the definition of cute. Video :(4/5) The quality of the video is great with sharp images. Although the plot in this series is almost non-existant, it's cuteness and humor makes up for it. If you want something light-hearted and silly, this is the anime for you. It's kind of annoying that each episode is only five minutes long, though. But don't worry, there are about 32 episodes in the set. They play the opening song and cartoon between every episode. If the song wasn't so good and the action so cute, I'd be really annoyed with it. Beware the "Eye Beam" of cuteness!!! Audio: (4/5) The audio is great. Good quality. No english dub, though (well, maybe that's a good thing). Subtitles: (4/5) The subtitles are almost perfect. I was very impressed. The only complaint I have about them is that they move by very fast at times. I find myself pausing the anime every once in a while to catch up on the subtitles. See the infamous Dijiko and her friends with they're amusing and KAWAIIIIIIIIII antics! ^_^
