It kept freezing about every 25 minutes- very irritating!

Audio:

The sound was ok.

Subtitle:

It broke my heart that this great anime was subbed in so badly... ruined it completely.

Comment:

Go for the rip of the region 1 dvds.. trust me its better when you can understand whats going on.

The video quality was excellent but I gave it only 3.5 stars because of the sad looking graphics. The guys all look hot, no doubt about that, but it seemed like the rest of their body was done too lazily. For instance, you'll notice that their costume designs are not so detailed, their hands are kind of bulky looking, and the background scenery isn't too detailed or a mind boggling wow.

Audio:

The audio was excellent, loved the music and Yuki sounds sooo cool!

Subtitle:

I have never seen or read such horrible subtitles. The names varried from episode to episode and they were translated Chinese to English not from Japanese to English. Instead of getting the name Yuki, you get Lung... Now what's that all about. There was so much Engrish in this series that I just gave up reading the subtitles and just watched it without subs.

Comment:

Well, the anime itself is actually pretty good, some plot twists and hot looking guys, but if you really want to see this, get the R1 version, you won't have to pull out your hair with all the Engrish it contains.

R2 ripped, without a doubt. I thought this would be one of those old shows, with a blurry VHS quality release, but the animation is brand new, crystal clear, and very bright and vivid colors. I didn't see any pixelation, and this video is just a pleasure to watch. I mean it when I say it's perfect.

Audio:

As beautiful as the video.

Subtitle:

Sometimes I think people were too hard on the subtitles. Except for the names, everything is basically perfect. The band names are right, the timing is very very good, and I understood all of it just fine. This is a AV rip, definantly. The font is that ugly typewriter-ish one, but it doesn't look as bad for this release for some reason. Disc 1 had black border, white inside. Disc 2 had white border with black inside. Not distraction, but pretty cool. Anyway, if you want to see the show, you're clear. They were good, and never desynched like MI might've done. Oh, and 90% of onscreen text is subtitled, which is something that MI would never do.

Comment:

Packaging: F- I HATE this packaging. An ugly picture of Yuki and Shindou looking WAY different then they do in the show, with all sorts of writing and logos scrawled over it that if you didn't already know, you wouldn't have any idea what the heck the show's name was. (Is it "Bad Luck"? "I Don't Care About Destiny"? Or "Gravitation"?) The inside is plain white with a manga picture of Yuki for one disc, and Shuichi (Shindou) for the other. Manga pictures look very ugly in DVDs, and this is no exception. The beautiful R2 anime art was no where to be found anywhere on this set. At least the back looks ok. Menus: Not bad. They are still menus (This is what AV did in the old days). Very basic menus, with play, subtitles, and scene select. The scene Select doesn't label the episode, just "Chapter 1, Chapter 2" etc. ------- The openings and endings are cut for every episode but the first and last. This is the first time I've seen AV do this, but if it's neccesary to keep the beautiful video quality is has, then I'm cool with it. The theme is good though. Chapter points are only one per episode. That blows, but you can deal with it, right? ---------------------------------- Now the show.. yeah it is a yaoi, but it is VERY good. And nothing graphic, or even anything that would make a non-yaoi fan dislike it. It's about Shuichi trying to make it in the world of singing. The songs are pretty awesome... I want the soundtrack now. The characters are cool, well drawn and funny (mainly that boy with the green hair). You should give this 13 episode series a shot, right? Try it out, but DON'T GET THIS SET. Get the AV one. It's exactly the same, but uses the awesome R2 packaging. Don't settle for this hideous crap, when AV is really the one who did all the good work (DVD wise, and DVD covers.) Cool show, good set.

clear white subs, very readable. A few grammar errors and words missing also on a few occasion the subs were out of the screen and the names of the characters are translated, thus you get weird names throughout sentences.

Comment:

I'm looking forward to get my hands on a perfect set because I simply fell in love with this series. I stumbled accross it by pure chance and I'm glad I did. The music and the story itself are simply great. The story revolves around a 19 year old boy that just formed a band ( Bad Luck )with his best friend. And one night he stumbles across a writter who simply tells him he has 0 talent in writting thus the story begins. You get to see the ups and downs of Suichi along with his relatiuonship with Yuki. Comedy is found throughout this set which makes it much enjoyable. Plus Yuki's past is very very interesting. ;) The only thing that I didn't like it they only placed 1 opening and 1 ending, which cuts the show very fast since the ending songs starts when the episode is near it's end and it's suddenly cut :( I reccomend you watch this series at least once in your life, just wait for a perfect set to come out if you want to buy it. Also note that this is a bit Yaoi/ Shonen. Although there's only a few kisses and that's about it.

hard to comment on subtitles.. they are very poorly done but it is easily understood.. they do not run off the screen at all and there are few spelling mistakes.. the names are confusing as well because there are several different names for each character and none of them match what you hear. i would still reccomend it though because somehow it is really easy to follow..

very very cute!!..i had never heard of it and i accidentally stumbled onto it and i am very pleased.

Engrish, but darn good Engrish. Has "Chinese names" though, such as Shuichi-->Shintong, Yuki-->Kwan, and other mysteries of translation. You can pick up most of the names by listening, though, but make sure to remember that the _good Lung has brown hair, and that Ask's Lung guy has black hair and is against you. Also, the themes were translated, I recall. Whoot.

Comment:

This series was surprisingly good. Don't want to give any spoilers, but it's recommended! And since it centers around a j-pop band there's lots of neat music. Undoubtedly shonen-ai, so avoid this if that bothers you. Also, the AC/MI set comes as two separate DVD cases in a box with, yes, *glittery* writing! Very professional [and a slightly higher shipping cost.] A high canidate for cosplay, with all the costumes they change into.

The video and audio were top notch. I am judging that the poor subtitles were due to my lack of understanding some of the scenes, but it could be due to the fact that I have never seen yaoi anime before. The story is pretty good and the main character Shuichi is as bizarre as the main girl from His and Hers Circumstances,Yukino. The yaoi was not "in your face", I think there was only a few kisses shown. Being the prejudice person that I try not to be, I am sure I would have liked this movie if the main character looked like mylene from Macross 7 instead...so sue me. I did enjoy the music that much, I thought the ending was abrupt, and many of the character developments were weak, but the show was kinda fun. Overall, I would not suggest purchasing this anime there are so many better shows to choose from. edited by Hanamichi on 16 Jun 2002 1:10 am

Publisher: MI Video: 4.5 Great video. I think it is a DVD rip. Audio: 4.5 Great audio. It's not 5.1 but I can't see any problem with it. Subs: 2.0 Sucks! The subs is totally engrish! It's pretty bad grammar, choice of words and names are all screwed up. Packaging: Gatefold packaging. Overall: 2.5 I don't really like the series. It's about one of those yaoi anime. Oh yeah, another thing, some said that the MI is a rip of the AV set (I don't have the AV set to confirm it, but i think it is true).
