The first comment sways the voting because they had an older release. This newer one got 5/5 on all from me. The original Japanese theatrical release has English audio because the studio felt it would add to the ambience [vampires are, after all, a European thing,] and even though I prefer subtitled, the seiyuu were excellent and it's not distracting. Actually, it allows you to admire the gorgeous artwork Amano put into this. Although I miss the old-skool bkrnd music from the first D, this one definitely has a darker, 'gothic' feel. It's really amazing.

Video - 5/5 R2 rip. Spectacular video quality. Audio - 5/5 Jap 5.1 audio track. Great sound. No problems. Subs - I didn't even check because the subs don't matter. This audio for this movie is originally in English. Chinese subs are available as well. Great movie. A must see.

i usually prefer subbed anime but this one is actually quite well done. the artwork is beautiful and you can tell that is is amano's artwork very easily. the graphics and storyline/substance have come a long way since the first vampire hunter d.

This movie... is gorgeous.
Audio:
The original Japanese release of this was ENGLISH audio with JAPANESE subtitles, because the producers thought it would give a more appealing edge, seeing how Vampires are a European thing and all. So first came the eng dubbed version, and later in Japan a second version with Japanese dub was released. So because this is the original release, it is Eng. audio, with Japanese and Chinese subtitles. The audio isn't too distracting, the seiyuu are good, and it allows you to focus on the amazing artwork.

So you know, this _isn't a remake of the original Vampire Hunter D. This is a different story, has a better-developed plot [a happy/non-annoying ending!] and lacks children, which is always good. Most recommended.

As for glitches, it only glitched once or twice, & that's because of my crap dvd player. It didn't skip either. But, the one thing I didn't like (although this is a little off subject) is not a lot of blood. Like when kyle cuts of the head of a Vampire/Zombie creature, I didn't see very much (I don't think there was any) blood. Which was the same when Nolte (I think that's how his name is spelled) Ripped through a few monsters, still no blood. Now, don't get me wrong there is some blood in the movie, but I guess because the monsters were, vampire/zombie things they were not supposed to have any blood or something. But, let me say from my point of view, the video was Great. edited by Batz Kage on 15 May 2002 7:25 pm

Well, when I had it on 5.1 it was a little to soft, & I found my self turning up the volume, to what usealy hurts my hears (I sit very close to the t.v.). Then, when I actidently hit the disc menu button, I would have to retreat, & turn down the volume so the main song wouldn't kill me. But, when I switched it over to 2.0 (I may have this backwards, for I didn't pay much attension to which is which) I could balance the volume out to normal. But, as for problems in the sound, such as glitches, skips, ect. I've found none at all. Which I've only watched it once, so next time I watch it I'll have to pay more attension to it. After watchig it a second time, at some times the bgm is louder than the char. voices, & changeing Ch. didn't work, so I guess it was all in my head, even though I bookmarked & relisten about 4 times the first time at certain parts, & it worked then. I believe the problem I was talking about above was explained a few days later when my sterio set up kinda blew out, or in other words totally screwed up, madea loud pop noise & stopped working for good, so I have no real way of know aboutthe sound. edited by Batz Kage on 17 May 2002 1:07 pm

Video: Great Sound: Near about perfect Subs: To me they were not the best I've seen. It started out with one or two misspells, then there was a problem with the subs being incomplete sentences. But, they don't really matter because of the english dialogue. Plus, they misspelled atleast one of the character's names. Well, this was an all around good movie. It has a great story, okay battles, & a very touching ending, although I found it a little dull, because I wished it would get a little more indepth (or whatever). Also if you liked the video game, you'll most likely enjoy the movie, because you get to see how good the Marcus Brothers are at fighting, that is until it's time for them to die. Then they drop a little to easily. Still I wound suggest for anyone to get this! edited by Batz Kage on 15 May 2002 6:56 pm

This review is for the new MI version of Bloodlust from the R2 rip. The video quality on this dvd is near perfect. My friend have the official release from the U.S. and even though his version seems to be a little sharper in image quality this MI version doesn't seem to be far behind. 4.5/5 The sound quality was awesome with true crystal clear dolby digital surround sound blasting from all speakers. No complaints in this department. 5/5 Subbing. The movie speaks english throughout the movie so there was no english subs on this dvd. The only sub option is in chinese so I give 1 point for those that can read chinese. 1/5 one last note. The back of the box claims that there is a making of feature but it wasn't in the disc. edited by wingsta on 30 Mar 2002 10:09 am

This movie is a must have for anime fans. Get either the R1 or the AC/MI, but just get it!!! The story is great! Very different from the 1st film. Although it is still very dark, it's a little more "touching" for lack of a better term.

EDIT *NOTE* This review is for the original release of Bloodlust that was released by MI. Originally it was a VHS rip that wasn't to good but recently found out that they have reissued this movie and it is an R2 rip that is supposedly really good. I can't confirm but this apparently is true. The version I reviewed is the old one and you will know its the old crappy version if it uses the R1 cover art. The new release contains the R2 cover art. ************* Well this is an older release. Bloodlust was released in english and this video then has no english subs so no review there. There are subs but they are in japanese. The subs are hardcoded so you can't turn them off. The video is a VHS rip, most likely a rip of the rental VHS which was out earlier than the R2 in Japan. The video isn't bad, but it looks dark and obviously VHS. Descent, but still pretty crappy compared to the real thing. There are about 7 glitches in the video where the video seems to skip which sucks. Audio was suprising great on this disc. It is a very loud surround track with some really good use of the surround directional abilities. I was suprised by this since its a VHS rip. Good stuff here. Well whether to get this or not should be moot. Just skip it and get the R1. Much better in everything and no hard coded subs. It isn't that much more so get that instead of this bootleg. edited by AsukaXIkari on 10 Mar 2002 11:07 am
