Audio/Video: These seem to be a rip from an R2 source so both are top quality. I didn't notice any of the pixelation mentioned by previous reviewers. Subtitling: The timing is good and the subs are easy to read. Unfortunately, there is some pretty bad engrish to sort through at times. Thank goodness, it's a pretty simple story so it is easy enough to follow along with. There is a bonus "making of" video at the end of the first disc that has video footage of the real cars they based the animated ones on. I have to confess a soft spot for this anime because of the inclusion of one of my all time favourite cars, the Caterham Super 7 (formerly by Lotus). They also use a Lancia Stratos, a Lotus Europa, and a Subaru WRX STi in this series. The story is more far fetched than most anime and the actual animation isn't that great. The characters are a bit of fun though and this is decent mindless entertainment.

eX-Driver is set 100 years in the future with a typical science fiction setting. We are introduced to a world where Artificial Intelligence has become a general occurrence and commodity within society. As such, automobiles are no longer driven; they are integrated with computer systems that enable full autonomous control. Equipped with AI, the electronically powered cars literally take the passenger wherever they desire. However, as society continues an unexplained malfunction with the AI driven automobiles cause a heated disturbance amongst humanity. Unable to control the cars, the vehicles prove to become a relatively dangerous hazard. In order to determine the origin and probably cause as to why the AI cars malfunction and a new division called, the eX-Driver is created. A probably flaw in society arises in the fact that since most things have become relatively reliant on the autonomy of machines such as those of vehicles, humans no longer possess the knowledge on how to drive effectively. However there are those within society that indeed possess an inherent aptitude toward driving the old-fashioned, gasoline engine vehicles of the 20th century. As such people who pass the proper examination earn the eX license. From which, individuals are then recruited with the eX-Driver organization. The storyline follows the journey of two aspiring female police girls, Lorna Endou and Lisa Sakakino. Because of their driving skills they are sent out to protect the city from dangerous drivers, illegal car modifications, and criminals. Their car is one of the few gas-powered vehicles left and it is under their control. Both uncharacteristic from one another, they prove to be a unique duo that generally balances a rhythmic interaction. The 6-part OVA detail the progression in earning their merit through eX-Driver as well as the eventual solving of the current dilemma that plagues humanity. Overall, when I was done watching the anime I felt that it was a very enjoyable show but not remarkable. eX-Driver is like a semi-futuristic 'You're Under Arrest' with better driving and less comedy. If you enjoyed ‘You’re Under Arrest’, I suggest you add this to your anime collection.

The video quality is really good throughout every episode. There is only pixelation every once in a while, and you will probobly only notice it if you are LOOKING for it.
Audio:
The only problem I had with audio was for the Intro to the episodes. The audio was somewhat muffled (not so much compressed sounding, but more like the bass was over-powering the other speakers). The actual show's audio is fine though.

Comment:
I am not a car obsessive person at all, but I really loved this show. Each episode has it's own little story, and the last two episodes deal with one giant conflict. This release also included extras of the voice actors and actresses being interviewed, talking about the show, and even racing against each other in go-karts. The only downside is the extras don't have subtitles, but they are still fun to watch.

After finishing this series you will be craving more episodes since there are only 6.

Bring on eX-Driver the Movie!!

Some of the names are wrong (I think they are the Chinese versions) , but otherwise good subtitling. Good A/V, few instances of pixelization on high motion scenes.
