The video quality of Love Hina: Final Selection isn't as bad as I had anticipated. Although some of the colors did seem to be almost contrasted: many scenes appeared darker or duller than I expected them to be. Of course, you can't always get great lighting when filming a live performance with an almost blacked out auditorium, but the quality could be better. Slight bleeding, but overall, not too bad video wise.

Great sounding music and vocals. For a live performance on DVD, this is about as good and as powerful as it gets. The songs are very well done, and every Japanese word is heard flawlessly. I didn't have to change the volume at all.

Sidenotes: * Watch the Love Hina series first. If you LOVE it to death or are a hardcore fan of good anime J-Pop (specifically Horie Yui), consider buying this DVD. If your impression of it is any less, don't give it a second thought. * A "slideshow/movie summary" of the show at the beginning of the DVD does little but introduce the characters to the audience. It was rather pointless in my point of view. * Did anyone notice how many middle aged MEN are in the audience? Incredible! *laughs* =)

Absolute rubbish! COMPLETE RUBBISH. Well... Maybe not COMPLETE rubbish. Video-- (4.5/5) Some nice video quality! It would have been 5/5 if it wasdn't for the occasional color bleeding. (Which rarely happens.) The animation was nice, and the excellent video quality just added on to the wonderful beauty! Audio-- (5/5) everything was perfect! The audio was flawless. Absoluley FLAWLESS. Some of the best audio... ever. (HK dvd-wise, anyways. ^_^) If you turn the volume all the way up, on surround sound, it sounds REALLY nice. And, it'll send nice vibrations under your feet when you walk around. (I do this, sadly enough. -_-;;;) Sutitles-- (2/5) Here's where the rubbish gets in! The subtitles are crap! But, it's all do to typos and gramatical errors, so you can still understand it, all in all. *_* I still don't like the subtitles, though. Jesus H. Christ... -_- As soon as my dvd-rom kicks back up, I'll post some of the worst screenshots I can for you guys. Then, you can see it's... badness... *_* Content-- (2.5/5) Actually, I didn't like the feature very much at all. BUT, I've watched it five times... *_* I'm just a weird guy. (I also hated Photon, but I refuse to sell it. *_*) BUT, all in all I'd reccomend this KHK dvd. The subs are rubbish, but are completley understandable.

------------------------------------------ Review of Love Hina Final Selection ------------------------------------------ Warning! This box set does NOT contain any new anime content. This collection will probably only appeal to a very small percentage of hard-core LH fans. Video: 4 -The picture quality was actually very good (if not perfect) throughout both disks. The reason I only gave 4/5 stars is because the second disk is not anime at all! It is actually footage of a live concert done by the LH voice actors. I was originally expecting this to be the second part of the T.V. series, so you can imagine why I felt 'let down' (to put it mildly) when the DVD started to play. Note: Voice actors are HUGE in Japan. I have heard that voice actors in Japan can be more famous that top movie stars. This might explain why live footage of voice actors appeals to the Japanese. Personally, if its not animated, I couldn't care less about it. -Very sharp picture! (Check ScreenShots section) -Only bad thing about the video is that the 'Anime Cartoon' logo & e-mail address show up on occasion. In my opinion this is unacceptable for any anime release. They could have atleast put their logo in the credits or start menu instead of during the show. Audio: 4 -Audio quality was great! The reason I only gave 4/5 stars is simply because I had to listen to the voice actors singing live. I really like the LH sound track/music, but live J-pop? Ugh. Subtitles: 3 -The subtitles for the first disk were decent, not perfect, but minor mistakes are expected from HK releases. i.e. lots of spelling/grammar errors. The subtitles for all other LH episodes/specials are superior to these. I dinged the score down to only 3 points because the second disk was not subbed at all! Although this isn't really a huge issue seeing as most people won't want to watch the second disk. Packaging: 5 -Excellent box art! -The Labels look great! (on disk & case as well) -I could not be happier with the packaging. Extras: 0 -There were no extras. On a side note, these two disks would have made for great extras if they were included with the T.V. series. On their own they just don't stand up. Menus: 2 1/2 -Disk 1 contained very basic menus that allowed for starting the movie and turning the subtitles on/off. -Disk 2 did NOT have menus. Content: 2 -2 disks -Not my thing, may appeal to others -At $21 dollars this isn't a huge waste of money, just don't expect to find new anime content. Disk 1: The first disk contains NO new anime material. It is basically a collage of scenes from the LH T.V. series mixed with character self-introductions. The disk can only be described as 'cliff-notes' to the LH T.V. series. This disk would be great for someone who didn't want to watch the whole LH T.V. series and instead wanted a compressed retelling of the story. BUT who in their right mind wouldn't want to watch LH?? Disk 2: The second disk was all footage of a live-LH concert. The voice actors got to sing/talk, but I couldn't understand a word they were saying because the disk was NOT subtitled!! -- The content of these two disks is fun to glance through, but I feel as though my money could have been better spent on ANY other anime title. ------------- Conclusion ------------- If you are truly a die-hard Love Hina fan this set may appeal to you. However, most people will find these two DVDs to be a waste of time & money.
