NOTE: I've watched the new MI edition, which has 26 eps on 3 DVD-9 This set isn't bad, but I can't follow the high ratings, that the previous reviewers have given. Video: Good, a little bit unsharp and I noticed some ghosting 3.5/5 Audio: Very good 4.5/5 Subs: Below average, but understandable. I've read the manga before, so I had no problems following the story, but at some times I thought I wouldn't have understood them correctly, if I didn't have previous knowledge. 2.5/5 Content: Very good.

Video (5/5) Audio (5/5) English Subs (3.5/5) Same level of English used as in Part I, didn?t adjust the characters? name to what it should be called, still continue using the names in Part I. Chinese Subs (4/5) There is some name changes of the characters in Chinese such as Gon and Leorio. That doesn?t affect the English subs. Packaging (5/5): A 3 DVDs set with nice box art. Nice pictures printed in the inside layer of the box too. Overall: If you have Hunter X Hunter Part I and like this anime, this is the set you cannot be missed. It continues Gon and his friends? good show. This release has the same overall quality as part 1, let's hope the third part remains the same quality or better ;)Nice packaging.
The story keeps getting better and better, definately one to buy.

Just as it started in box 1, the series keeps escalating. It gets better and better. DVD quality of box 1 is maintained here. I guess there isn't any thing else to add, just go buy it.

VIDEO: Breathtaking... They released thirteen episodes, not the usual 26, but this time, the video doesn't suffer from 10 epsidoes on a DVD. There are a total of four episodes on each disc, with five on the last one. Also, MI does something that some people may not like, but I don't really care either way. They deleted the intro/ending from every episode except the first and last one, (which makes sense), and they also deleted the previews for the upcoming episode. This also is good since it reduces the load on the translator and bumps up the video quality a bit by giving it an extra 6-7 minutes to work with. Overall though, when I was watching it, I couldn't tell that it was from a HKDVD. That is why I am giving this series a 5/5.

AUDIO: WOW... I heard part of the AS/AV set(s) and they were dull and muffled. It wasn't horrible, but there is a definate difference between them and this MI set. MI/AC was able to produce LOUD (audible) clear and crisp audio without allocating to much BW so that the video would suffer. I think they did a very FINE job in the department.

SYNOPSIS: It must be mentioned that not only have I not seen too much, but also that the discovery of the world, and how it works, forms a fairly major part of the plot. After all, our hero is a ten year old boy who's spent all of his life in a village deep in the wilderness. And even given this he appears to prefer the wilderness to the village. He's got pretty good skills at wilderness survival, but his knowledge of the wider world and the people and forces that fill it is marginal at best. Things change somewhat when he's rescued by a hunter. Hunters are highly trained, and fairly deadly, individuals who are capable of dealing with the dangers found within the wilderness. And given that human law, order and civilization seems to be spread fairly thinly on this world many of the dangers that can be found are human. This hunter informs our hero that, against what his aunt had always told him, his dad is not only alive, somewhere, but considered to be one of the greatest of the hunters. Propelled by this information, the need to ask 10 years worth of questions, and a sizable interest in the hunter professions he decides to become a hunter. This requires a sizable number of tests in the various locales this fantasy world has to offer. Fortunately he find some good, albeit fairly exotic, companions to travel the path with him. SUBTITLES: Recently, we have seen a wave of titles under their new GREEN Mi logo that sport some really decent subtitles. We will never get PURE R1 quality subtitles, so stop asking for that since if they have to HK-SUB it themselves, then it's virtually impossible. However, they could get someone that knows both japanese and english in there to help out and get the subs somewhat better. Well... This is one of the first titles where they did that. They spent a good deal of time with the subtitles for both set one and set two. The result has been fantastic. I compared these to the fansubs, and these must be their own sice the fansubs say basically the same thing, but use different words to express the same meaning. So I think MI did an excellent job on this set, you couldn't ask for more from a HK company. That is why I am giving these subtitles a 5/5. OVERALL: Buy this set now. Don't be fooled into spending less money for the set of ten DVDS with episodes 1-62 on them. Here, I'll break down your options when ordering... Ep1-62 by AS ---------------- 1-26 are VHS rips with shoddy audio and subtitles.. 27-62 are actual DVDRIPS with better audio and subs. Ep1-26 by MI ---------------- Both sets 1-13 and 14-26 will cost you more, but the quality is outstanding and they are true dvdrips. Then purchase the addon by AS or AV of 27-62 which are also dvd rips. So in the end, you will spend like 30$ more with this option, but you are guaranteed dvdrips. ANSWER: Obviously go with the set by MI for the first set of episodes. The quality is MUUUCH higher for Ep1-26 and the subs totally kick ass.
