The quality on the video is really a mixed bag. Some episodes are obvious vhs tv rips, others look like digital tv rips. I would probably give the vhs rip episodes a 3, and the better looking ones a 4, so ill just give it an even score of 3.5. Its nothing exceptional, but definately watchable.
Audio:
Mostly stereo as it seems, fairly clear, but then again my tv supports nothing but stereo.

Comment:
I cant recommend this set, regardless of the fact that it has good subtitles. I got it for free, copied in a trade, but frankly its not worth paying for an old set with so-so video and fansubs when there are R1 ripped sets avaliable for roughly in the same price. However, Inuyasha is a good anime, I plan to get a better set as soon as I can afford it.

This has been taken straight off Japanese television as it gives a warning in japanese at the begining of every episode about sitting to close to the tv, and somtimes you have japanese text running through the episode on the bottom of the screen saying whats on after this episode.

Not too bad a bit muffly.

The video is not the greatest but I've seen a lot worse, looks like Top quality Vhs rips and right of the broadcasted episodes. With the exception of two episodes the quality is pretty good for what it is.
Audio:
No problems here really good actually.

This is another great series by Rumiko Takahashi, so expect the same hijinks and wittiness of Ranma and Ursei Yatsura but the mellow and dark stories of the Mermaid sagas to go along with it. Not as repetative as Ranma either.

So far this is turning out to be a pretty good series. Video: 2/5 Ok, the video is pretty bad. TV rips with ads and all. It is basically like watching a show you recorded on VHS. It does not ruin the show or the experience though. Audio: 3/5 TV rip ? enough said. Subs: 4/5 Generally very good ? probably fansub quality with the usual types and spelling mistakes. Timing is also very good with only a few fast subs noticeable. Packaging: 5/5 MI does a great job with their gatefold sets! Content: 4.5/5 I am definitely enjoying this show. I even order the remaining box sets. While the video is poor, don?t let that stop you from enjoining this great series. Also, it does include all opening and endings as well as the next episode previews. Based on the quality of this show and the cost of the R1 DVD?s (at 3 episodes a DVD), this is a great buy.

This certainly isn't like previous Rumiko Takahashi series. However that certainly isn't a bad thing. Video 4/5 - The video isn't great. VHS lines and some brightness. However it isn't the worst I've seen ever. If you watch fan subs at all, you are all set. Some later episodes get better. Audio 4/5 - The audio works nice. No popping or crackling. The music in it is very nice. Love the opening and ending themes. Subs 4.5/5 - The subs are really good. All names are correct. The tenses are sometimes screwed up, but that's very minor. Some words get scrunched together, but once again it didn't bother me. Most sentences are perfect english. Definately glad there were fan subs and that Manga International took there time on this. Packaging 5/5 - Very solid gatefold case. The artwork is very nice. Really like any picture with Kagome in it. ^_^ Replayability 5/5 - The series rocks. I will always have this running in my player. Content 5/5 - The show isn't like other Rumiko Takahashi works. It isn't all about romance and comedy, though it does contain much of this. There is more death in this series then all three of her other popular series combined. The show starts out a little slow, and I noticed some differences from the show and the manga. The first couple of episodes are good but nothing special. Though later on the journey type story starts to make a little more sense and the plot becomes much more intriget. Simply put, Inu Yasha is another smash hit for Rumiko Takahashi, who know how to tell a great story. This set is an easy pick up. It has the goods minus great video quality. This is a great foundation for what is to come. This is great because you get to see the series in Japanese without having to sell your left kidney for VIZ. For fun check out the series on Cartoon Network and the set, to see the differences. In short pick it up. ^_^

I just bought this set for my girlfriend because she likes this series and wanted to own it, but didn't want to spend $30 for 3 eps/disk, and I wanted to see more since I can't get into the series watching it on Cartoon Network once a week. Anyway, when I first read the reviews I was expecting a horrible vhs type picture, but it is nearly dvd quality. There are a few eps that have the lines from a vhs, or flashing colors at the top of the screen, but they remain as good as other dvds I have. The subs are excellent, a few mispellings (Centripede Monster) and a few misplaced words, but still excellent. Seeing how I don't have any special equipment, audio was the same as it is on every other dvd. I recommend this dvd to anyone who likes the series or doesn't want to wait 10000 yrs for CN to get up to where this dvd leaves off. As for me, I'm not impressed with the series, but who knows once I finish this set. Picture 4/5 Audio 5/5 Subs 4.5/5

I'm basing this review on 2 episodes I've seen on SVCD, ripped from the Anime Cartoon version. Video: First episode seemed a bit better than the second, but still a VHS rip. When I was reading the reviews I was expecting something horrible, but it's still very watchable. Just don't expect too much. There is some blockiness in the fast scenes, as normal when you put 9 episodes on a DVD. Also there are some 'vhs-lines' through the screen, and a bit of video flickering on top of the screen. And ofcourse it's not as sharp as a DVD, and you'll get the noral VHS color bleeding. If you can handle all that, it's still watchable, just don't expect great video quality. If you say the Kenshin DVDs (TV series) are very watchable for you, you'll probably also be able to watch this, even though it's not as good as Kenshin itself (kinda weird saying that, huh?!) Edit i just received the complete set, and want to add some info. Some episodes look REALLY bad. It's like they were recorded from 2nd generation tape or something. Somtimes you also get some annoying flickering in your screen, or color lines. Overall it's watchable, just don't expect good video. And once again an update on the video. Just checked, and episode 3-5 are clearly DVD rips. It shows that this set really isn't consistent with video quality wise. From what I've seen these are the only onese that are DVD rips, but I'm not too sure. So now the video quality can vary from 2 / 5 - 4 / 5 (episode 3-5). But most of the episodes are still TV/VHS rips. Some good, some real bad. Sound: Sounded OK, but i'm no expert. A bitt 'dull' maybe. Subs: Seemed very good. I guess they used fansubs, but not the ones from the Digisubs, because they seemed... diffrent. They called a "Youkai" a "Ghost", opposed to the fansubs. But still very, very good. If you're an Inuyasha fan, you should get this, just don't expect the best video quality. It seems Viz is screwing up the R1 version (just 3 eps a/ DVD, for a 80+ series, f()ck off...). EXTRA : Added screenshots. Do note that the last three shots are taken from the episodes wich are DVD rips, so they look better. In general the set looks like the first 6 or so shots, with some better eps, and some worse.

video -- average; for a tv/vhs-version it's still good, because nothing that would really hurt went wrong audio -- ok; just plain recorded tv subs -- good; astonishing but true, they are very readable. Mostly the names are correct, few mispellings or bad translations. In short: they fit well to the show! authoring -- very good: complete episodes with intro/extro/preview/characters. RESULT: For a recorded TV-show it's good enough to give you plenty of fun. You should really like it!

Audio quality varies. First few eps are VERY good VHS rips...maybe LD rips. Every other episode is different. It was like they had someone different tape some of the eps cause there was lots of rainbowing and pixilation. Not good quality all the way through but watchable.

If you are a fan of Takahashi, this set is well worth checking out. While it may not compare to the domestics, it's better than having to wait three years just to watch the first 26 episodes...

The tri-fold keeper case is identicle to the other three-disc set 1. Anime Cartoon logo in the lower left hand front corner, spine, and foil seal on back. Anime Cartoon logo also present on individual discs. Disc 1 - Eps.1-9 (9 episodes) Disc 2 - Eps.10-17 (8 episodes) Disc 3 - Eps.18-25 (8 episodes) Video: What we have here is a straight from VHS video rip. Occationally, the video will have flickering at the top (tracking problem?). Encoding is a little rough. Fast actions on screen causes pixelation and a general loss of clarity. Even at the best time the video looks rather VHS-like. Sound: Original broadcast stereo. Actually it sounds a little weak coming through my surround sound processor. Not much is being kicked out to the left and right channels, most of the sound gets pushed through the center channel. Not bad sound overall for a recorded TV broadcast, very clear and crisp. Overview: 25 episodes on three DVDs, 9/8/8, not bad! Unfortunatly the video suffers because of it. Plus: Full openings/endings for each episode. Episode preview clips are intacted. Splash screens/character bios after each eps. intact Heck even the sponsors screen is intact, one was (Playstation2) Good editing, no jarring starts or stops Nice menus Good sub translation (the occational misspelling/miscaptalization/etc.aside) Minus: Poor video quality Pixelation No episode listings on the packaging or the discs Final: Hey, if you can't wait for the R1 release (like me) and you've just got to have it now, this set is a good value for the money. It's not a set to enshrine in your collection, but if you want to get a taste of the show, here you go. It's interesting to see it as it was broadcast in Japan also.
