Video:
The video for this series is awesome! The show is very old (from the early 80s) so the animation isn't the best, but the video is great! No fuzziness or pixelation that I noticed, and colors are smooth and don't blend with each other. Excellent job in this department!
Audio:
Audio, like the video, is in excellent shape! It's an old show, so don't expect any full one surround sound effects. The audio comes through clear and there was no distortion at all. Very good job on this part of the set!

Comment:
THe series that started one of Japan's biggest franchises is here! This is the original Mobile Suit GUndam series! Every episode is included in this set, included the Island episode that was cut out of US broadcasting and DVD release! Very good animation for an old show. Lot's of great giant robot fighting in this series. This is the show that broke the mold for all giant robot animes in being more serious then other "Super Robot" shows of the era. A main point in the show is the loss of innocents in a war, as the mere children onboard White Base go through the Hell's of the One Year War. I recommend this legendary piece of anime for all fans!
Now, for the DVD itself. Yes, like I said, there are Chinese names used. But I have you covered. Email me at
[email protected] and I will email you a list I started that has the Chinese names to real Japanese names. It can help those who are new to this show find out who's who. It's incomplete, but I have most of the main characters on it.
The opening of the show is present at the beginning of each disc, and the ending follows the last episode of each disc. There is only one opening and ending for the whole show, so it's the same songs over and over :P
A wierd thing they cut out of each episode is the little recap before the episode title. It's not anything really important that you'll die without seeing though. It basically says some information on important events that have happened in the series. It's not needed unless you fall alseep for a few episodes :P
Eyecatches are intact also. Perfectly too. There's two different versions, and thy change at the correct time in the series.
Wierd thing I noticed. One episode had the correct Japanese names subbed for everything. Amuro was Amuro. White Base was WHite Base. It raised my spirits in hope that the show would be like this till the end, ut next episode it was back to Chinese names :( Oh well.
Oh, and one episode has no English subtitles. Just Chinese. It's not an important episode, so you can miss it and not miss anything. It's near the end, if I recall.
Anyways, I highly recommend this show for all anime fans!
