audio -- JUNK, it's a really worse and totally wrong made Stereo-2.0 downmix of the original DTS-source. So the voices/speech gets often very silent, but on the same level the action-effects will break your windows RESULT -- BEWARE ON ANY COST !!!

Same disc as the AS version, has the video problem here as well where the video is stretched to 4:3 *shrug*. Sucks to not have it in widescreen. Picture does come off looking as if its kinda stretched so thats probably a problem were you MUST have a widescreen TV to watch this film properly :( Subs are excellent, fansubs but there are a few mistakes here and there and about 3 lines missing. One being a joke that sort of takes away from the film with it missing. The problem with the disc, the same as the AS disc is the audio. About 40 minutes into the film or such, the audio goes to hell. All surround sound goes straight to the center channel. And when all sound is pushed into the same stream like that, you get a screeching mess. Almost descent release ruined by this. Forget this one, get the ADV disc in April. *Edited from above comments* Yes I stand corrected, I concentrated on the big audio problem that happens around 40 minutes into the film but the big problem is the audio is bad throughout the film. From the beginning the center channel audio is WAY to low. You can hardly hear anything and even with playing with your surround settings, it wont change a thing. Playing on a normal TV does not help at all either. There are a ton of scenes for example were you cannot hear what is being said at all. You get subs but you don't hear anything. The surround and such is great, but its almost like the center speaker doesn't exists and then suddenly the problem I described above happens. And that just makes it worse. Audio sucks basically :) Fun action movie, but with 4:3 video and horrible sound, do not even bother with this HK dvd. The official disc comes out in april, get that one. Supporting R1 is always a good thing anyways ;) edited by AsukaXIkari on 18 Mar 2002 6:53 am
