there was really nothing that i could find wrong with the pic quality...... on the other hand, i wasn't really looking out for faults. i'm not a picky person, so as long as it's decent, i'm happy. at the very least, the quality is acceptable.
Audio:
it was fine..... not horrible, not great. average.... what i'd expect. only thing that threw me off a bit was the reverb effect they had goin on with the dialogue, but i don't think that's a quality issue. just the way it was done......

someone said that the subs aren't that bad. that it's Engrish, but understandable...... but i don't know, i just think it's unacceptable.... definitely below average. like i said, i'm not a picky person, and if you do just an average job i'll be happy, really! but these subs are pretty close to garbage. i mean, they're comprehensible to a point, but it seems like a lot of it is just lost in translation. it really takes away from the story, imo..... it's sad cuz i've owned this set for close to a year and STILL haven't gotten past the second disc!!!!! i really wanna finish the series, but i just get burned out on it really quick. the main reason for that is cuz of the subs. i keep finding myself hitting pause since they do tend to move pretty fast and it's broken English, and takes a second to make sense of. also, there's the lack of punctuation.... i mean, there is a little, but it's inconsistent. plus, sometimes the color of the background is close to the color of the subs, which makes them even harder to read...... all this keeps me from really being able to get into a story which i can tell is actually pretty decent. very sad.... my advice to all those who are thinking about buying this: hold out for a bit and hope they come out with a better set.... but if you can't hold out anymore, it probably doesn't even matter which one you get since apparently they're all pretty much the same..... i mean, you really only have 3 to choose from anyways (as far as the series is concerned). and one of them is apparently very hard to find.... so there's really only two to choose from. they both have fairly equal reviews.... the important thing is what cover art you like better......

Video is fine with a some pixelation since each disc has 10 episodes crammed in.
Audio:
Well I notice the audio says it's 5.1 but I only notice surround in the OP and ED.

I got this and the two movies for cheap on Ebay and I heard it was one of the best Gundam series ever but unfortnatly, the subs hindered my enjoyment because I only watched up to 22 eps and I had no clue what was going on. The two movies, Earth Light and Moonightlight Butterfly have much better subs but you definitly miss a lot of details in both since there are compressed from the TV series. (Turn A Movie 1 recaps Ep-1-27 but some eps are left out completly and Moonlight jumps straight to eps 38-50)

The video is good, looks to be a R2 rip.
Audio:
R2 rip. No english dub or anything like that (for one's i wished that there was a english dub on this set, see subs rating for why).

The story is intresting, but i fear its ruined for the most part by the subs (who's quality is bad). You loos to mutch of the story, and the politics (every gundam serie has a large bit of politics behind it) are totaly lost on you. You can guess what is heaponing based on the action's, but you are in for a few nasty surprice's. I almost forced myself to finish the serie (wish i dident) and kept hoping that the subs where going to improve. They dident :(

Video - 5/5 Excellent for all 50 episodes. All OP and ED and Next Episode Previews intact and subbed. A subbed e-mail address appears at the beginning, halfway point, and end of each episode. Audio - 4/5 No trouble throughout Subs - 3/5 Most names were very close but very few of them were exactly right. The grammar is engrish but very understandable for such a political show. I was able to understand everything I think. Maybe a few minor things slipped past me, but you'll always feel like you know what's going on. There were very few typos and no unsubbed lines that I can remember. Most of the time they don't use capital letters or any punctuation at all so its up to you to figure out where a "period" or "question mark" was supposed to go and what words were supposed to be capitalized. I'll post the names and sample sentences below. Names Rolan = Loran Lily Borjarno = Lily Borjanno Gwen Lineford = Grey Ralf Soshie = Sochie Sid = Shido Gim Ginganam = Gym Ghingham Kiel = Kihel Harry = Harry Will Game (the person) = Will Game Willgame (the shuttle) = Willgem Gundam = Gundam Mobile Suit = MS Yackop = Jacob Bruno = Bruno Diana = Diana Vicinity (town) = Issin Agrippa = Agripp Turn A = Turn A Turn X = Turn X Sumo (mech) = Sumo Woddom (mech) = Wadom Kapool (mech) = Kapool Flat (mech) = Flat Midguld = Midocout White Doll = White Doll Militia = Militia Keith = Keith Joseph = Joseph Fran = Fran Gaban = Gaban Mahirow (mech) = Mohirow John = John Heim = Heim Meshie = Meishi Dialogue Samples - One thing I noticed that I think was a good thing was that the subtitle quality was completely consistent for all 50 episodes at all times. There were not any episodes where the sub quality dropped or got better. So after reading these 3 dialogues, you’ll have a very good idea of the sub quality. I’ll write them EXACTLY as they appeared on screen. Dialogue 1 go do the soul refreshing thing Sweatson, can’t go to the palace what are you talking aobut I wouldn’t let the man who fights next to Diana’s palace go friendly troop just stays behind the Queen’s ass hwo dare you are to say the Queen’s ass damn ass is ass. what’s wrong with it just because of you, we know what Ghingnham’s family is like after solving Agripp’s betraying the moon and the eath is going to have a war stop agreement and send back earthrace to the earth Dialogue 2 where is John Amos he left earlier than English man he is inside Meishi, thank you for picking up our princess as long as you can lend me Borjurna me and Sochie can do a lot of things ouch show me the way if you don’t want to get hurt Dialogue 3 don’t touch anything in the room there is nothing here is there an trap or trick the Dark Age is in this room but there is not even a book book I don’t want to contact with you rude people you are prejudice Diana soriel only stays on moon Agripp Maintainer who wants to use the prolong strategy If you’ve seen Turn A Gundam before and you like the show, then you won’t like these subs because you’ll want better subs so you can enjoy the show more. But these subs are just fine for those who are curious about the show like I was. When I was done with all 50 episodes, I didn’t like the show. So I didn’t care about the sub quality. On the other hand, if I had thought the show was excellent, I would have been disappointed in the sub quality. I don’t regret getting the set though because now I know what the show is like. I just sold it on ebay and got another HK set with the money so everything worked out fine.

The serie starts off verry slow in my eye's. It takes to the 18 eps before things realy start to heat up. After that the serie has simularities to Gundam-X ... If you are into fast action, then this sets may be not for you (atleased not the first 2 disk's), you can look at them to tell the story with a complex storyline. And when the politics fail, things get heated up ...

Not a bad serie to watch on a cold day.

There are a lot of spelling errors and name mistakes but otherwise understandable subs for the most part. Grammar isn't the hottest but it isn't anywhere near bad engrish. Good audio and video.

the presentation of the video and sound are top notch. Both look good and sound good. The subs are a different matter. They could be better. Names were mispelled, some translations was dead wrong, and at times left you with "huh."

Its good to see Tomino back. He has taken a series that people thought you can't go any further with and done more then the same old space v.s earth war. But I'll leave the plot up for you to see. Video quality is superb, obvious R2 rips here, 10 episodes crammed on each disc without any sign of decreased quality or bitrate. This is the first Gundam series to use digitally painted cels I believe and it shows. While the animation is not the greatest in the world, like the old Gundam series it has a style of its own even if its not the most detailed drawings. Audio is good too, again I don't think there is 5.1 but for 40-50 bucks beggars can't be choosers. And subs, well their not great but they are more understandable then alot of them. And while names get mispelled their not totally changed, i.e Gwen becomes Glenn, not as bad as Amuro becoming Yabao heh. Anyway if you want to see something new with the Gundam universe this is a good start.

One of the best Gundam series. Not the usual "My Gundam kicks all your Zaku asses" anymore. The character designs were great. Done by Sid Mead. Looks more like Studio Ghibli than Gundam. Video: Good video quality. Didn't notice any flaws. Audios: Saw the set on 2 channels only. Doesn't have 5.1 but I consider that a plus because HK dvds usually don't have true 5.1. The speakers gave off slight feedback on a few of the eps but it was negligible. Subs: The subs were decent. The grammar, spelling, and timing were off but very understandable. There should be no problem understanding the complex storyline.
