Ah....0079, the original gundam series. Although I've never seen more than three episodes of the TV series, this three movie set is absolutely fantastic. I recomend this series to everyone, but people who enjoy action and war drama will probably get the most out of it. How does the HK set of this classic trilogy hold up? Video: 4/5 Nothing bad here, after all, it is over 20 years old. Most likely a Laserdisc rip (not a bad thing!!!), since it doesn't look as though it's been restored. Audio: 3/5 I can't verify if this is a true 5.1 release since my reciever is from the 70's, but I can tell you the glaring problem of this audio track.....the infamous "buzz". It sounds as though the gain was turned up way too high when this set was made. If you can live with VHS sound, you should be just fine here. Subs: 4/5 Probably fansubs, since I did not notice any engrish, just the usual misspellings. My only gripe with the subs is that they have the tendancy to go off the screen. Those of you that have TVs that are actually from the last two decades probably won't notice this as much as I did, since my tube tends to cut off the picture around the edges. Overall? I'd give this set a 4/5, since the quality isn't too bad, and the excellence of the show (and lack of an R1 DVD) makes this a solid purchase for gundam fans and those who have an interest in the series. **This title works just fine on an American PS2** edited by Xenogears98 on 09 Apr 2002 6:06 pm

Must have if you like the One Year War. Video is above average, no obvious errors though again like some previous material, I wish Bandai would of done abit better job remastering it, such as brightening the color. Audio isn't very good, many parts sound like its being played out of a tin can or a record player unfortunately. Subs are almost perfect, a few mispellings here and there and a couple timing problems but they are all good English not Engrish. I reccomend this over the TV version of 0079, much easier to follow and less time consuming to watch.

Publisher : AC/MI Video: 4/5 Very good video. I don't see any problem here. Audio: 3/5 I'm not sure if it is in fact 5.1 cause I only listen through my tv speakers. But all i can say is the sound kinda muffled. Kinda like VHS. But, maybe it is because I don't have a 5.1 chan speakers set up (I'm not sure tho!). Subs: 3.7/5 Good translation. But there are some spelling errors and some line that run off the screen. The subs is not great, but it is ok. Overall: 4/5 An OK set. Unlike the tv series. It is supposed to be the Gundam 0079 movies but AC called it Gundam 0079 OVA. edited by peppy on 18 Mar 2002 8:25 pm edited by peppy on 18 Mar 2002 8:26 pm
