Video:
Alot of Macroblocking on moving scenes, still images and slow moving action are fine though! Some of the CGI effects cause terrible pixilation, but then you get MOST of ther R1 extras so it's worth it... However the entire climax battle of episode 6 is missing (some of the battle can be found in one of the "Extra Classes" featurettes) and 2 further minutes from episode 14? are spirited away... It's a shame really because other than that this set would have had no problem scoring a 4/5
Audio:
Superb audio on both the Japanese and the English Dub! No drop outs pops or clicks detected over the entire series!

Comment:
While the video quality of this 3 discs set isn't perfect the DVD capacity isn't wasted you get some of the commentries, 9 of the 11 AZ Extra class featurettes and some of the line art and character explanations seen on the very comprehensive R1 DVDs!
Personally I don't mind the loss in quality in light of the extra features actually enriching the story! The "Extra Classes" are fantastic and really help you understand the mythology behind the series, it's a shame they're not all there really. The missing episode parts are the biggest issue with this set, although I think all in all you don't miss much plotwise, you do lose something not being able to see Chrono's first battle with his unlocked abilites...
All that aside I would reccomend this series and this set, don't be put off by the slight SD look of the series, it's still quite dark and the bad guy (Aion) is a badass...
