This has always been one of my favorites, and also the one that "introduced" me to Anime. Video: 5/5 - Nice vibrant colors and the flaws in the film quality can be blamed on the age of the film. (I hope the re-master it for release in the States.) Audio: 5/5 - The music seemed nice and sharp, nothing noticable to complain about. Subtitles: 2/5 - The 2 (out of 8) shorts that have subtitles the English grammer is off, But luckily things are spelled right, and they have a habit of speeding by way too fast! But with a little effort you can make sense of them. All taken into account I would suggest this release to anyone who's interested. It's the "Fantasia" of Japanese Animation and should be considered an anime classic.

I first saw this on Cartoon Network(and then the same version is on Sci-Fi sometimes), so this was my first time seeing the movie uncut and in the original order. Video- awesome, considering how old the movie is. Just like the other review says. On my copy though, it skipped once....but that was the only time. Audio- seemed good to me. I'm watching on a mono-television so I'm not really a judge, but I didn't have to turn the TV all the way up. Subtitles- For the most part, very good. I only notice the phrases getting really odd during the "Prescence" segment. That and sometimes they're just a little bit too fast. I basicallybought this because it's one of my favorite anime and there's not domestic version yet. My favorite segment is the "Prescence" segment, by Yasoumi Umetsu(yes, the Kite guy...and there's no hentai in it either). At the very end, they stuck a trailer for the movie. I don't know if it's the original trailer or the Streamline trailer (it is in English). Definitely pick this one up, especially if you've never seen it uncut in it's original language.

This dvd has gotta be a R2 dvd rip because the colors are beautiful and sharp. My audio setup is basic, so I definitely could not judge it well, but for the most part it sounds great. The subtitles on the few sections that need subtitling are HK subs but are good enough where you understand the stories. Even the parts where the character speaks English has English subitles, and you can definitely tell where the subs have their flaws, but they are accurate enough. Overall, this Dvd is a worthy buy, especially compared to the old vhs releases. The colors look more beautiful then they ever had. This dvd showcases various early works of Anime directors that are well known today and is definitely worth the price to see their early work with great music. I whole heartedly recommend this dvd to anyone who likes to see great anime!!!
