Video:
The video quality on this set is PERFECT...for the first 6 episodes. Starting on episode 7 signs of compression can be seen, but only in scenes with dark blues (skies) . However, after watching an episode or two you don't even notice unless you go back to the first 6. Either way, you will think you are watching an R1 release.
Audio:
Like the video, the audio quality is perfect on the first 6 episodes. Starting on episode 7 the audio gets muffled/compressed and it's really annoying for people watching anime with surround sound. Unlike the video quality, it's a little bit harder not to notice the muffled audio.

Comment:
I bought this set after hearing the hype about it being a PERFECT set from MI, and looking just like an R1/R2 rip. I was really dissapointed when I got to episode 7, but this is such a great series I soon learned to ignore the minor flaws and enjoyed the set anyway.
If you're an audio perfectionist, you might want to consider picking up the R1 release of this show. However, if you want to save 100 or so bucks and don't want to wait until next year to finish it (or don't care about audio/video as long as it's better than VHS), the AC/MI version is the way to go.
