I thought it was confusing in the begining but as the story unfolds, you understand it more and more. They Drill the diplomatics of the kingdoms into your head. I understand how the Government system of The Twelve Kingdoms works better than my own Country. Not alot of action, alot of talking and walking, I think there are like 4 or 5 recap episodes to. Although, I did Still enjoy this Set, It's not for the hardcore action fans. It's Epic, and tedious at pionts.

At two different times on disc 1 during different episodes the screen would get blocky and flicker getting darker or lighter every few seconds. It only happens a few minutes total so no big deal. The rest the time the video quality is consistently good.
Audio:
Great sound quality and the English dub is well done.

Notes* *I watched this series on a COBY brand DVD player (DVD-224 model) with AV cable on a 25 inch RCA TV The series it self: Twelve Kingdoms has an interesting style of story telling in how it deals with characters that have all most nothing to do with one another. It can be hard to tell why some characters are even in the story to begin with as far as what they have to do with other parts of the story. It takes a bit of time to get used to how the story is done, but the bottom line is Twelve Kingdoms is a very good character/plot driven drama series. There is a little action also but not a lot so action freaks beware. Recommended. :)

overall, an impressive value. the series is epic, and is good all the way through. great massive story, characters and presentation. the DVD case is super slim for 6 discs. its amazing they get all the discs in there, but they fit, and fit well.

On disc was one there was a little pixelation two times but that didn?t last too long a minute or so at most so it?s not really a problem. Overall the video for this set was quite good throughout. I don?t remember seeing any other picture problems on any of the other discs no problems other than that. It?s defiantly one of the better quality sets video wise for the most part anyways so theres not too many problems that will distract the viewer. I don?t know how it will show up on a TV but in my experience my Laptop seems to show everything that?s bad picture wise more than my TV so that says a lot about this set. The first picture shows the screenshot I posted shows the worst the video gets.
Audio:
The audio was loud and clear throughout no problems to note.

This series wasn?t too bad it wasn?t quite what I was expecting but it?s still pretty good overall. I can?t really think of anything that it could be compared to though at times it reminded me of Fushigi Yuugi (Yugi) but those were only some smaller elements in the earlier episodes. All of that being said I really wish this series didn?t have all those explanation/recap episodes they may be of use to some people but for me personally they just seemed pointless. But rather than boring you with a pointless rant on the subject I will be simple this anime is defiantly worth seeing at least once despite the fact that some parts of it aren?t all that great one arc in particular for me anyways made up for the bad parts. Hopefully there will be more to this anime someday though that would be nice but that probably won?t happen for a while if ever. Also sorry about the quality of the pictures I don?t know if it?s just the format (JPEG/JPG) or if it?s because I used paint on this occasion because I don?t have any other way to save images in the Jpeg format with my Laptop.
