Yusuke finally settles the Chapter Black fiasco and finds himself thrown into the politics of the Demon World where he faces his greatest challenge yet: Macroblocking! This final set of the YuYu Hakusho saga contains 4 disks, weighing in at 34 episodes. Disks 1 and 2 each are the sums of 2 R1 dvds, where as 3 and 4 are the sum of 3 R1 dvds each. So for a proper review I am going to break down each disk: Disk 1 : 8 episodes - all with an average variable bitrate of 5.5 mps Rating: 5 stars - Near Perfect Disk 2 : 8 episodes - all with an average variable bitrate of 5.5 mps Rating: 5 stars - Near Perfect Disk 3 : 9 episodes - first 6 with an average variable bitrate of 5 mps Rating: 4.5 stars - Very Good with Slight Pixilation - last 3 with an average variable bitrate of 3 mps Rating: 2.5 stars - High Pixilation and Macroblocking Disk 4 - 9 episodes - first 6 with an average variable bitrate of 5 mps Rating: 4.5 stars - Very Good with Slight Pixilation - last 3 with an average variable bitrate of 3 mps Rating: 2.5 stars - High Pixilation and Macroblocking If you check the screenshots section, you can see some 5 mps vs 3 mps stills I took for comparison. The first 3 bad episodes happen durring a part of the story which is rather slow, with only a few average fights. The second bad 3 fall into the final episodes of the show, disrupting the final battles and the fanfare. Even though the quality is quite bad in these episodes, I can not really say that they ruin the set for me. The final battle is not one of the best in the series, and aside from the actual fights, the macroblocking does not do much to disturb the rest of the story. If you did not mind FX's part 3, then this should not bug you too much, as it is about the same.

Comment:
Case: Standard EZ fare. If you had the FX gatefolds then you can pretty well imagine EZ's casework. The front cover looks just like the previous sets, however the front image is slightly smaller and the text shifted (case preview image is accurate). On the inside you have Nicely printed dvds and a nice image printed on the reverse of the cover insert for background art. And lastly, on the back cover you have a slightly generic, but easily forgetable collage of images and text. Menus: Little to say other than very nice. Very straight forward selection. Extras: Nothing in the way of extras other than a simple trailer for the next dvd (the final dvd has a trailer for the gba game). Final Thoughts: I am sad to see this series end, however, pressing it any farther would have only taken it to rediculous dbz levels. I was very satisfied with the conclusion of the story, which is more commonly rare with anime these days.
