Video:

The video quality was a little better than most HK DVDs; most of which I don't have problems with, but none the less. The video retains the general vibrancy of colors, and no noticed instances of bleeding or stalling.

Audio:

No buzzing, no fading; you're free to enjoy the lovely voices and choir-like music.

Subtitle:

This is where the set fumbles, sadly. The names at least remain consistant, but the same words (gokigeyo, the greeting, for example) are translated differently depending on the episode. While there is no perfect translation for the example term, it becomes confusing when key terms are changed before ever really establishing what any one of them means. Some episodes are, granted, better than others (noteably the middle episodes suffer, which is a shame as the story between Sei and her petite souer is complex on it's own. Many will not understand this beautiful side story.) but even the good episodes must be watched with a 'translating the translation' state of mind.

Comment:

Overall, I recommend at least a moderate Japanese vocabulary before viewing. It's still enjoyable, as the primary stories are subtitled decently. It's a nice story, if you can make it out.
