Video:
the video quality itself was gorgeous, with very minimal pixelation. however, i had a whole bunch of problems with the second and thrid disks, namely episodes 11, 12, and 13. there was a TON of macroblocking and lock up, with green boxes and blips and stuff, and you can't even fast forward through it. my disc has no scratches, and only one other import dvd has done that on my dvd player, but then when i tried episode 12 on my xbox 360, it was fine. i think its just disagreeing with my toshiba dvd player.
other than that, this is a gorgeous transfer, just try it on a couple of dvd players.
Audio:
really cristal clear! gets a little quite somtimes for like a second.

Comment:
this is a really good set, and it beats the price of the R1 box set by about 70 dollars, so you really can't go wrong. i had some major lock up issues and skips, but only on 1 of my dvd players. the video, when it isn't being wierd, is gorgeous, the best looking import i've ever seen, and i own A LOT of them.
also worth noting was the presentation of the set is in the new EZ cases, which are bad. also, the labels on the discs are REALLY pixelated and blurry, and it just looks cheap.
this is a really great set to get, if you have multiple dvd players handy. maybe mine was just defective, or maybe my dvd player just hates full metal panic and steel angel kurumi (the other one that skipped and worked fine on other players)
this is a great anime, solid in nearly every aspect. nothign eath shattering, but worth the money for an EXTREMELY fun time!
