Almost everybody knows about this series and it truly kicks ass. Video : 4.5/5 Great video quality, not too much pixelation, nice colours and sharp image. Only problem I noticed was when there was a black background some an object scroll pasted it the screen it would leave a trail but it's not too serious. Audio : 5/5 No problems at all, in synch and clear. Subtitles : 2/5 Just horrible, I understood what was going on for the most part because I'm used to engrish speakers and I saw the whole series a couple of times before but the grammar is just plain horrible and makes no sense. Names are also changed, Subaiku=Spike, Puppy=Ein. Richasu=Vicious and my favourite Faye Valentine=Faye Lover. Misc: Intro only appears at the beginning of each DVD (they used the intro of ep. 1 all three times) and ending credits only appear at the end of each DVD. Packaging sucks like shit, generic AC/MI gatefold (which blows considering I pay extra for AC/MI just to get nice packaging) This set had the potiental to destroy in the fx set which has pixelation problems for those who don't care about dubs but really bad subtitles, lack of intro/ending credits for each episode and lousy packaging kills this set.

the AS and "old AI/MI" version are identical: they are the same "no english dub" version (which is crap). video -- ok, (it's not the original), doubled telesined & bad flickering sometimes audio -- fine subs -- bad; readable, but wrong/shortend translaten, all names wrong, showing duration ist *much* too short autoring -- bad; main parts of episodes clipped together RESULT: the subs kills the fun if this show quickly. they popup so fast, you cant even "watch" anime. So BEWARE on any cost !!!

The video quality was very good. Seems to me that is was a R1 / R2 DVD rip. No video problems at all. To bad you only get OP and Ending songs once.

Also this box set looks no where as nice as the FX Perfect Sessions one. Just wanted to let you all know. :P

The overall video quality is very good, probably because these got ripped from the R1 DVD's, but the credits and intro got ripped for almost every episode, and because of that, I'm am docking the release 1 full point for video.

Why the hell would they not use the R1 subtitles if they rips the R1's? I know they used the R1's, so I find that very confusing and annoying. Stay away, very far away.FLEABttn from dvdsubs.com

The only problem with this set is the subtitles. Ill flat out say that since you can get scripts anywhere else, you can just use a seperate program and watch this set with the alternate subs. However on to the review. Video - 5/5 With as many episodes per disc on this set, I was really surprised with how good they looked. The endings and beginnings were cut (good choice to free up some needed space), so the episodes looked a lot better. There is however pixelation during the flight CG, but then the r1 also has the same problem (there really isn't a way to display that w/o pixels on the digital medium). The video is just about always crisp, and there isn't really and heavy pixelation any where else. Audio - 4/5 The audio was pretty good, I couldn't find anything wrong with the audio, and it sounded really clear and crisp. It however could have been better, but overall really good (don't think that the audio is really bad in any way). Subs - 2/5 yech. The subs were pretty bad and very very Engrish. However as I said before, you can download translated (and sometimes even timed) scripts to the series, so you can load the DVD up and use those subs just fine (no need to use the subs that came with the show). But the subs are pretty hard to follow most of the time. Overall if you are looking for Video and Audio quality this set is definately one to consider (however if you are looking for subs the FX one is supposed to be better), and apparently this set is supposed to be better than the FX set in terms of Video quality. edited by kakomu on 03 Aug 2002 10:21 pm

I think the set is actually not as bad as everyonbe said. When I got the prize I thought it would be really crap, but (the video and audio are great by the way) the subtitles aren't really that bad. Yes, it is in Engrish, but IT IS BEARABLE. Although, I would get the FX version (direct rip of R1's version), but being in my horrible poistion on being in europe and pretty much no way of getting HK DVDs, i take the side of CB. Gomen-nasai no minna-san. But IT IS BEARABLE! (Get the FX version however).

The subs are like they have been written by a four year old; you can barely understand what their saying and you pretty much have to guess. Audio was perfect and so was the video other than that its better to just get the perfect collection.

I agree completely with the other reviewers here. Great video and audio but totally incomprehensible subs. Not worth getting when the FX version is so much better.

This is the same set as the AS version. Looks and sounds great but has some of the worst subs out there. Just stay away!

Video 4.5: The video is great, I think its from the R2 rip. Audio 4.5: I didnt find anything wrong with it. Subs 1.0: Damn the subs are hella bad, they got all the names wrong. And sometimes I dont even get what they are saying. Overall 3.0: Stay away, get the FX verison(perfect subs and video)
