Video:
Proving that the odd episode distribution on the Third perfect collection was indeed some sort of brain fart on FX's part, Part 4 returns to a much more even 6 episodes per 3 discs (Yes, thats 18 episodes for the less mathematically inclined). This being the case, the video quality was very good throughout. Everything is clear and crisp, and theres no real motion blurs to speak of; so without anything to criticize it gets a 5.
Audio:
Audio gets the same score as Video for essentially the same reason. Nothing to complain about, so 5 it is.

Comment:
For those keeping score, these 18 episodes would be approximately the first two thirds of season 3 as it aired in Japan. (At least according to the episode list that I've seen) I personally feel these episodes have a solid quality running through all of them that improves on the story telling already prevelant in previous seasons. The character development is certainly more interesting as even secondary characters like Shippo get an increased share of the spotlight, the first episode in the collection being a great example. Also, there is decidedly less rehashing of previous episodes than there used to be, which is great because Inuyasha getting shot by Kikyo was really becoming redundant. I guess they assume that if you don't know about the main plot points of the story by now, you're a lost cause. More Naraku, more Koga, a rebellious Kagura, and the introduction of a dark preistess all make this set well worth having. Buy it. Now. Seriously.
