Video:
Although this is a rip of the R1 DVD put out by Manga Entertainment, the video appears to be slightly darker and somewhat less defined. As well as this, there is a small bit of color bleeding and cross-coloration but not enough to worsen the picture too much. All in all pretty good, but nothing special
Audio:
As stated in the review previous to this, this DVD has no English subtitle track, so those of you looking to watch this film with Japanese audio and English subtitles will be disappointed. Technically however, everything else just about checks out. The 5.1 Dolby Digital mix is present and there is precious little hissing or other background noise. Quite satisfactory.

Comment:
Just like what has been said in the previous review, if you want a decent enough rip of the R1 DVD at a good price, but sans a subtitle track, go for it. However, if you want your english subtitles intact, either buy the offical R1 DVD or wait for a HK rip of the forthcoming Ghost In The Shell Special Edition DVD.

Comment:
This appers to be a rip of the R1 DVD since the Manga logos appear on the menu and before the film. The video looks nice and it's presented in widescreen, but there is some artifacting and pixelation. It's most noticeable on the dark scenes, but after awhile you don't notice it too much. I'd give the video a 4/5. The sound is recognized as 5.1, but sounded good through my stereo TV since I don't have a surround set-up. Sounded good to me, and I didn't notice any problems. There are some discrepancies with the features listed on the packaging and this site. The packaging clearly states there are both English and Chinese subtitles. There are in reality only Chinese subtitles. The audio is also listed as being only Japanese, but the English dub track from the official release is also availble here. This is a little disapointing as I'm not a huge fan of the dub. So unless you hate the English dub and are looking for English subtitles, don't bother with this release and just buy the official one. But if these things don't bother you and you can get this disc for cheap (as I did), it's a sound buy.
