Video is Grainy...maybe a bad LD rip, but it's understandable cause of the age of the show (1972) a little dark in places, red bleeds a lot during sunset scenes, explosions, breast fire attacks, destruction scenes with lots of reds and pinks but completely watchable.

This is my favorite classic giant robot anime, a classic by any stretch of the word. I wish they had done a better work with it and gotten a better source for audio/video but a keeper none the less...they should remake this set with the recently released R2s and get some better subs. A great series with a less than stellar presentation on hk dvd, I demand a remaster!!!! :) menu is simple a still image with "paly all" option, chapters option and subtitles(english, chinese, none) chapter breaks are one per episode, only one opening sequence at the start and next episode and ending sequence at the end of the disc..disc 1 has 10 episodes, discs 2 and 3 5 eps and disc 4 10 episodes This set brings us to the middle of the series, introduces us to new characters and mecha of the greatest giant robot series ever conceived, Go Nagai's Mazinger Z...Saludo(Baron Ashura Submarine Fortress) gets destroyed by Mazinger Z, and to make matters worse to our favorite double faced freak, Dr Hell get a new henchman...Count Bloken(A Nazi officer, with a Floating head!!!!) with his Iron Cross and the Air Fortress Gor, make our heroes (and Baron Ashura) lives a living hell, but the Baron getsa new submarine fortress, Budo...but Mazinger Z get upgraded in the form of the Iron Cutters, Drill Missiles and Jet Scrander, a flying wing that gives Mazinger Z the ability to fly!!! also Boss with the help of the Photon Energy Research Center professors get his own robot (made of trash) Boss Borot...and the world will never be the same, also the Minerva X episode is in here :)

I decided to check this title out due to the requests I received, so here it is: Video: The video is grainy... the show is pretty old so its understandable.. Audio: Same as above, old show but no wierd background sound that I could hear. Subtitles: The subs were actually not as bad as I expected them to be... they are far from perfect, alot of weird phrasing but nothing that needs to be re-read multiple times to understand, also theres a quiet a few lines not translated that are spoken in the background but thats not really important to the show, since the show is old and story line is pretty flat... its fighting a new robot every episode ^_^ Please note this review is gathered from watching 1 episode completely and scanning through few others... see screenshots for examples of the video and subtitles.
