The video on the first disc was a little pixelated (understandABLE FOR HAVING 9 EP ON IT). tHE SECOND AND THIRD DISC WERE GREAT THOUGH.
Audio:
Sounded Great!!!

looked pretty good.
Comment:
Not FX's best work. but still worth buying. Sorta strange disc ratio with 9-6-3.

The videos decent on the first disc but could have been better. The episode division on this set is very weird as has been stated before 9 on disc 1, 6 on disc 2, 3 on disc 3. Now there is one other problem with disc 3 it has one of the worst chapter break screw ups that I have seen in HK sets in general. The first episodes starting and first half run together in the same break. I don?t know if it?s just my disc, my player or what but it?s no big deal just need to fast forward a bit. Also there is one other problem and that is simply that the starting chapter break and the part a chapter break are a bit off.
Audio:
The audio was on this set is good just like the two before it no problems here.
Subtitle:
The subtitles are good just like the first 2 sets once again.
Comment:
Once again a pretty good set but not quite as good as the first 2 so it?s a little disappointing in that aspect. But considering the price it?s still pretty good regardless of the various problems mentioned above.

Nothing original to report as I also found the 9-6-3 distribution to be less than ideal. Even on my old TV you could definitely tell a difference between the first disc and the last two. It's not nearly enough to get bothered about, though. Despite a little pixelation and a few motion blurs, the quality still held up remarkably well for that much data on one disc. For now I'll just hope that this doesn't become a habit. Besides, the last episodes on disc three might have actually gained a little from the odd distribution, which was nice when considering how good those episodes are.
Audio:
When the characters move their lips, out comes Japanese. Press a button, and the same thing happens in English. Amazing. Audio is as good as ever, so there is nothing really to complain about. Is the dub a little corny? Sure, but it's a dub and that's just what they sound like. Now click that thing back over to Japanese, you should read more anyway!
Subtitle:
Speaking of reading, I happen to be a fan of these subtitles. Clear and on time, they do not omit cultural bits even if they don't translate well into foriegn preconceptions. They differ from the dubbed English because they don't have to match action, and they use that to be more precise. These subtitles are not just the English dub transcripts, but a translation of the original Japanese. Of course, on my copy there were two lines that disappeared rather quickly on the first disc, but I'm attributing that to the odd distribution.
Comment:
Inuyasha, the story of girl and her dog... man. It's got action, it's got suspense, and it even has enough dopey love story to get your girl-type friend to sit down and watch it with you. Overall, a lovely series from Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma, Maison Ikokku,...) A strong recommendation for anyone who likes their Feudal Japan and the demons that come with it. Oh, and for anyone who is interested, these Perfect Collections do NOT follow the Seasons. The first season of Inuyasha ran 27 episodes and so did the second. So for those keeping score, Perfect Collection 1 had most of the first season, 2 contained the end of the first and the beginning of the second, and 3 finished off the second season. Which is actually kind of a bonus with this set, as the last episode it contains isn't one of those damnable cliff hanger things that ended the previous collections. (Which also means that if you have the first two, you are REQUIRED to get the third. Sorry, but thats the rule)

This time around I was a little bit surprised, especially (as mentioned in other reviews) the 9-6-3 distribution on the cd's. The quality was noticeably lower on the first disc than on the other two. The video wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as they have done in the past. I think the quality took quite a hit with so much information on one disc. A little disappoined with that, but other than that, the video was actually quite good, especially with 9 crammed onto one disc! Mostly, on the other disc's there was a nice clear image. I hope FX doesn't continue in this pattern...
Audio:
The audio was excellent. I watch it in Japanese and it was right on the money like they usually are. I just can't get over the Japanese voices. But they were crystal clear and wonderful to listen to! No static or background noise and the music was very good as well.
Subtitle:
Subtitles were very good in this one. I think I remember maybe one misspelling on the first disc, but other than that, I didn't notice anything wrong with them. Good translations and on time with the audio. Very good in this department!
Comment:
I had a little bit of a skipping problem in my DVD player with the first disc, but I attribute that to the fact that I think there were too many episodes on the first disc. Other than that, they played beautifully, the menus as usual were very good and easy to use. Nice animations for them as well. Cover art was nice too.

Very good picture quality despite the 9-6-3 episodes distribution. Only on dvd 1 does the picture look a little grainy. OnE small minute problem is whenever it goes to the 2nd layer, there is a 1-2 second pause. Other than these, no other problems.
Audio:
Both Eng and Jap audio are very clear. Exactly like what you would get from a R1 dvd.
Subtitle:
Subs are very clear and easy to read with the yellow letterings. I did notice 1 line of missing sub in dvd #1 from Inuyasha. However, the conversation only consisted of a couple of words so you don't miss much at all.
Comment:
Overall, this set has decent qualities. No freezings/macroblockings/pixelations. Packaging and artwork is similar to set 1 and 2, in terms of quality. Pretty well done. The only thing I could find whatever little fault with is the distribution of the episodes. Even though there is not a significant drop in picture quality on dvd #1, FX is forcing it by putting 9 episodes on it. Hopefully the next set's episodes would be more evenly distributed.

I thought the video quality was just fine. No major errors except some pixelsation on disc 3 during moments of intense lighting. The menus are nice except for one of 'em. Don't remember which disc but check the screenshots; you'll see it. The words are a little fuzzy but it's not a big deal.
Audio:
Absolutely no problems with audio. I only listened to the English version and I heard no errors in the least. I'm sure the Japanese version is fine also. That's what the other review said anyway. The music is also just fine. No problems at all.
Subtitle:
Subtitles, again, are flawless. They're easy to read and won't interfere with your viewing pleasure. They flow right along with their words and there's little mistranslation.
Comment:
Another great FX set to get. I've been really pleased with their previous Inu Yasha sets and the other work they've done. Keep it up FX, and I'll keep buying.

Yowch. FX's previous 6 episodes per disc formula goes out the window, and instead they split this set 9-6-3. This is great... when you're watching the 2nd and 3rd DVD. The first DVD, with 9 episodes, however, takes a noticeable hit over the quality of FX's previous Inu Yasha release efforts. Don't get me wrong... the video is still acceptable, but why break up the show 9-6-3, instead of just going with the previous two volumes' method of 6-6-6. I -loved- the quality of the previous releases... and it's hard to swallow a lesser effort from FX. EDIT: The screenshots I posted are in order from DVD 1, 2 and then 3. So... as you can see by comparing the first couple of non-menu images, with the last couple of non-menu images... there is a -huge- inconsistency in video quality.
Audio:
No problems here. The audio doesn't take as noticeable a hit as the video did on the first DVD with 9 episodes. Both the english and japanese language tracks sound great.
Subtitle:
R1 source, so these are basically flawless. I only watched an episode here and there with the subtitles on against the English language track. You could easily watch this series through dubbed, or subbed (if, unlike me, you can't stand the surfer Inu Yasha english VA). ;)
Comment:
The packaging is just as nice as the other two volumes of Inu Yasha from FX. The Audio and Subtitles are great. The video is great... on discs 2 and 3, and not so great on disc 1. I really hope FX doesn't make a habit of un-even episode distribution on the DVDs in future releases... I'd keep buying from FX, because it is still a nice release. It's just not as nice as it -could- have been, or as nice as the other two volumes of Inu Yasha were.
