With this set I was a bit disappointed by the first disc and the second because the Dark Tournament is my favorite saga. The reason I say this is the picture is pretty horrid in some episodes on the first disc and somewhat bad on the second disc where Bui fights Hiei. I can ONLY recommend this set if you?re a fan of this series and don?t have the money to buy the R1s much like myself. Due to the pixilation I gave it 4.5 because most of the episodes were perfect.
Audio:
As usual the audio was perfect no complaints here everything was loud and clear. Much like most of Funimations dubs this one was done quite well in my opinion and the Japanese subbed version is alright too but it?s a matter of preference. Either way this is a HIGHLY enjoyable action series.

Despite the picture problems I am happy I bought this set because this is just a really great action show the best in my mind. To be simple it?s like a deeper more realistic version of DBZ with demons and humans instead of aliens. The villains are not truly evil in this and they fight for different reasons so it?s really hard to define who is right and who is wrong at times which makes this series highly enjoyable. If you can get over the pixilation you will enjoy this set if not get the R1s. I added some pictures to show how the video can get for those who want to know.

The video is pretty much flawless, but the first disk is a heart breaker with all of the pixleation. It also continues on a little bit more in the later disks but barely any. I understand why though, first of all the first and second box set contained 25 episodes each. For the third box set they upped it up too 33 episodes, finishing off the "Dark Tournament" and dipping into the "Chapter Black" episodes.
Audio:
The japanese in the box set sounds pretty good, same with the english dub no complaints.

For the first 3 eps. there is a lot of pixelation. Since those eps. doesn't have many fast moving scenes he thought he could go low quality on them, it was a big mistake. It kept the set from being perfect. As for the rest of the other eps. the quality is flawless. he probly wanted to save some space for those eps.
Audio:
Excellent! nothing wrong where. Everything is in sync. volume is OK. The jap audio had 5.1 ch, but the english only has 2 ch.

After the Dark Turnament I wondered if The action's gonna get even more wild but it kinna settled down and took another turn. instead of using supper powers like Yuske, they have to start using their Brains. Don't want to put up any spoilers so I'll be brief. Sakyo didn't really take all of his work with him. the tunnel/portal remains and it growing and that's all i'm telling you. I like the Demon Class levels. I was a bit suprised to find that tugoro was only at the upper B class. anyway, great anime. definitely recommend.

The video quality is above average and looks really nice, except for the first three episodes on the first disc. At first I thought just my copy was flawed, but reading these other reviews it seems to be a problem with possibly most of the sets. The first 3 episodes do exhibit some bad, heavy pixelation and pretty frequentely, but outside of that there were no problems for me.
Audio:
The audio was flawless. Everything sounded fine and I couldn't catch any errors. I listened to it in English and I had no complaints whatsoever. I don't watch anime in Japanese, so you'll have to check another review for Japanese audio.

I love Yu Yu Hakusho, and this set brings me closer and closer to the end. I'm extremely pleased that FX put this one out so quickly after Part 2 seeing as where Part 2 ended. Another good FX rip, and I can't wait for Part 4 to come out!

The video was great except for the major pixelation on two of the three discs. On disc one, the very first episode had major pixelation and also the seventh. On disc two, i had no problems but on disc three the first three episodes had major pixelation. Overall, it was good.
Audio:
As far as auido quality, it was very good.

Overall, it was a great box set espically for the price. The extras are: Disc One - Preview of Blue Gender Disc Two - Preview on how to play the Yu Yu Hakusho trading card game Disc Three - Preview of Kiddy Rade the only problem i had was the pixelation on the discs, i believe FX tried to rush to get it out and didn't take there time. Because i have the second box set, and i didn't have any problems with pixelation. Also to let the person who wrote the review before me that you are not the only one with those problems

OK up until this time the yu yu hakusho sets have been almost unflawed, however on this box set in particular I was a little dissapointed, it may just be my set but doubtful, on the very first disc episode and first episode there was some really bad pixelation/macroblocking , it didnt bother me so much being as that is an insignificant fight scene..but still horrible nonetheless, then everything was good for a while and then it did it a few other times on the first disc, same with the second disc, and a few parrts on the third disc, it never did it at a very climatic time, but im very picky and this made me a little upset..
Audio:
great as always, luod , crisp and clear, no problems..

overall a great set. especially since you get to see around 10-12 episodes past the dark tournament I really like where the story is going and how powerful both the good and bad guys are becoming, the only thing that really bugs me is the pixelation, even on the disc that have 8 episodes you still get this horrid picture from time to time, but on the disc that has 10 episodes it is just as good if not better then the other two disc.. im going to ask around and see if others have this problem with there sets, it may just be mine...
