Overall:
Video:
For the fact, that there are only 3 or 4 episodes per disc, the video is absolutely average, with slight shaking on the third disc and a bit grainy, when it gets darker on the screen. Disappointing.
Audio:
Nothing special to report here, seemed decent, but has been heard better, of course.
Subtitle:
Really really awfull. Engrish, no on-screen text translated (which is an important loss here) and overall, most of the text didn't make any sense and lots of conversation was "forgotten". You have to guess quite cleverly, if you want to follow the plot. Especially annoying, when there are tactical discussions and the names suddenly change. Jint was called "Kitter" and "Renzhi" (!?), for example. Yuck -_-
Comment:
For me, the best part of the trilogy is the beginning "Crest Of The Stars", but if you prefer space-sagas over character-development, this might be it for you. However, this set is undoubtably not recommendable.

Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't notice any colored borders. However, the quality of the video looked worse than that of the previous sets. On the third disc, the picture gets all shaky a couple of times, but only for like one second. Overall, this was not very good.
Audio:
No humming this time, fortunately. The audio seemed alright to me.
Subtitle:
The subs seem to be much worse than those of the first season's set. From the fourth episode onwards, the quality of the subs goes downhill. And they change the names of the characters at least three times, which is a nuisance. Overall, you do understand what's going on. However, sometimes you're left to guess what exactly the characters are talking about (especially when the Ahb generals are discussing strategy and such).
Comment:
The second season of "Seikai no Senki" comes as a three disc set, with the first DVD containing 3 episodes each and the fourth containing 4 episodes. That doesn't make sense at all... but whatever. The menus are not as good looking as those of the previous two sets, furthermore there are some nasty typos (what's a "paly all"?). There are no chapter breaks inbetween episodes, i.e. each full episode is one chapter. Like the first season's set, the DVDs of this box set come in a generic plastic packaging à la Anime Studio, which somehow looks very cheap. As I mentioned in the review of the first series set, the artwork is not consistent compared to the other two sets. Looks like three different series if you put them on a shelf together. The series itself is great, without a doubt and leaves you yearning for a sequel (which, unfortunately, doesn't exist yet). Do I recommend this set? Not anymore. There are better sets around - better than this one for sure...

Video:
Kinda okay. As mentioned below, colored borders, but they don't really distract too much. Picture is sharp-ish but definitely not the quality you'd expect from a DVD.
Audio:
As it's stereo, there isn't too much you can do wrong with it.
Subtitle:
Hm, there were at least two translators at work here. Subs get a bit better (just a bit though) starting with episode 8, but in exchange, you have to get used to yet another version of the names. Overall, the subs are pretty much understandable most of the time, if you're willing to try and figure out what they mean...
Comment:
Too bad there doesn't seem to be a decent (and affordable) set of Banner of the Stars II out there.
