This is one of the three Angelic Layer sets, and probably the worst. Studio: Anime Studio Episodes: 1-26 Video: 3/5. Definite 2nd-gen or TV rips, not good quality at all; brightness is too high. Sometimes the pic jumps like a VHS tape. Audio: 3/5. Muted and not crisp as it could be. Subtitles: 2.5/5 The first 13 episodes are subbed with okay grammer, some typos, and a lot of missing lines. The second 13 episodes use Chinese names, are Engrishy, and overall very difficult to understand: the meaning is there but the language is not. It's also missing a bunch of lines later on. Chaptering: Part A, Part B. Bonuses: None. Menus: Animated, in English, with Play All, Chapters, Subtitles. Content: Prologues were cut for episodes 14-26, and only the first episode of each DVD has the OP. I think they took the formatting from MI for the first 13, so it ended up being laid out as 7-7-7-6 with an OP on chapter 5 on the 2nd disc. Impression: Disappointing, but the box is cute. Alright, my first review, heh. Here goes. Video: seemed pretty good to me. Though im no expert on video. I think this may be a TV rip, but a good one. Audio: Also seemed great to me, again no expert on this matter. Subs: First 2 discs, use fansubs, it seems. Though disc 1 has a bunch of missing dialouge, still understandable. Disc 3 and 4 are very good engrish, names are wrong for the most part, but its understandable, it could be worse heh. Overall a pretty good buy, as I hear the MI set 2 sounds like a rip of the last 2 DVDs from this set. It's supposed to have the same engrish problems. So price-wise, this would be cheaper.

The video is not bad, although I had colour bleeding on the 3rd dvd. Sound on the 3rd dvd also starts cracking up during the second episode, but returns to normal. New subtitles are used in the 3rd dvd and although the engrish is okay, they totally changed the subtitled names of the characters which was very annoying (i think they used the chinese names.. ) Still.. gripes aside, this series is not bad at all and the subtitles are bearable

I love this anime its really good mix of drama, action and comedy. Video quality is good, sound is good, subs are great. 26eps of pure fun.
