Video:
The video quality on FX's release of Samurai Girl - RBHSPC (well really, could the name get any longer?) is superb. This isn't surprising considering there are only 13 episodes, and the distribution is 7-6 over the two DVDs. I only noticed the most minor of pixelation during the odd high-action, high-fx scenes. If you're really not watching for it, you might not even notice it you're so drawn into the intense action, and hilarious... uhm, hilarity.
Audio:
Also superb. Samurai Girl has some of the best fight sounds I've ever heard in an action anime, and they all ring true on this transfer of the show. The English VA track is great, as you basically couldn't assemble a cast of more talented VAs anywhere in the world... unless of course you threw Crispin Freeman in there as well... but really, he's about the only veteran missing from this show.
The volume levels are consistent throughout the show, and between the english and japanese tracks. This is what it's like when FX does things right.

Comment:
I picked up this series because I was getting slightly burnt out on the more serious/dramatic series... and I wanted something mindless, and fun. Samurai Girl is just that, and a little more. The quality of comedy really surprised me, especially in the episode where the main female leads battle in a K-Fight (converted for an episode into a "Kitchen Fight")... which turns out to be a cross between Iron Chef, and Street Fighter. Hilarious.
As mentioned above, the English VA talent is worth the price of admission alone. Steven Blum, Melissa Charles, Wendee Lee, and on and on and on... there really weren't any voices I -didn't- recognize on this show.
Extras-wise, I was glad to see the live-action extras, including the main female Japanese VAs, were translated with English subtitles. A nice bonus, which obviously did not compromise the quality of video and audio on the rest of the DVDs by being there.
Way to go FX. Recommended highly for anyone who wants a fun, comedic, action-filled show with the best English voice talent around.
