Video:
Big O's animation almost rivals Bepob in it's crisp look. Characters as well as environments are drawn with a unique style and made to look very realistic.
Audio:
Big O's sound is of a superior quality. Each dvd is encoded in DOBLY 5.1 surround sound. The bit rates are near cd quality, even for the dialouge audio.

Comment:
When you first look at the cover of Big O you may be turned off by the giant robot stuff, I know I was. You soon realize that there is a great deal of depth to Big O's storyline. When the first episode begins you are introduced to Roger Smith, the negotiator. He is portrayed as a well mannered man of wealth. He is well spoken and he takes his negotiating job very seriously. You are also introduced to one of the mysteries of the series. You learn of the way no one remembers anything that happened in Paradigm city forty years ago. This isn't explained. Instead you learn of the way some people are trying to discover what happened to make everyone forget their past. When Roger Smith's diplomatic negotiating fails he brings out his Mega Duce (the giant robot) Big O. He uses this to combat the various dangers he encounters in each episode. The combat between Big O and his adversaries is done very well. It enables the viewer to feel like they are in on the action. One of the prominant aspects of Big O is the way it incorporates a suspensful atmosphere with an action packed one. The transition between the two is done very well. In short this is definately a worthy anime. Especially since you can own the entire first season for under $50. I would reccomend this to anyone who is a fan of anime, or even if you are new to anime. This will surely drag you into it.
