RahXephon's visual style comes across as bright and almost cheerful. This brightness helps keep RahXephon from degenerating into yet another typical giant robot show. Beautiful~~
Audio:
The soundtrack for RahXephon comes in two flavors: 5.1 English and 2.0 Japanese. Both soundtracks feature the same music and sound effect tracks, keeping a consistency between the two. The English track does a good job of keeping up with the original Japanese script, making allowances for lip flaps and some stronger phrasing. Excellent~~

The world around Tokyo has disappeared, destroyed by invaders. The citizens of Tokyo have continued living, remembering the history of the world and knowing that someday the invaders will return. When the Invaders finally return, young Kamina Ayato begins to question the people and the existence around him. He is soon confronted by Shitow Haruka, a woman who claims to have the answers he seeks. On the run, Kamina is drawn to a temple where the RahXephon awaits him. He is confronted with the possibility that the world he has known all his life is a lie, and the only connection he has with reality lies with the RahXephon and the secrets that Haruka can tell him. Kamina must now confront the secret of the Mu and what really happened to the rest of the world! Exciting array of visuals and a well thought-out plot.

Pretty good video quality some pixelation but as with most FX sets nothing that can ruin the viewing experience.

This show was pretty good towards the end mainly is where it got interesting the only problem I have with it is that I read it?s ?Complex? and deep but I just didn?t see that maybe it?s just me oh well. It was relatively easy to understand is all I can say really. It is better than Eva though and most mechas in general if nothing else it was entertaining so it served its purpose.

The over all video guality is great. I did notice some very slight blockyness here and there but if your not looking for it you might not even be able to tell it's there.
Audio:
Great sound quality as well. I thought the english dub was good. The soundtrack fits the show well but is a little on the repetitive side.

Notes* *This series is a R1 rip. *I watched this series on a COBY DVD player (DVD-224 model) with AV cable on a 25 inch RCA TV. The series it self: With it's complex plot RahXephon is the kind of series that most people will have to see more then once to get a good understanding of. And it's well worth seeing more then once even though I found the action scenes not to be that good.

Very nice set to have. The story was really good too. Yeah it reminded me of Evangelion for the first episode but it really is nothing like that. Some of the action seemed too much and I feel this could have been told with less episodes but it was a good watch anyway. A must buy!

Video quality range from prestine to average as the quality does dip in certain episodes and scenes. The blurriness and macroblocking are especially noticeable during the ending song credits, darker scenes, and the certain fast action battle scenes. But the good by far outweighs the bad and overall it's quite watchable. It's just not as good as some of the better FX rips like Argento Soma, or Ai Yori Aoshi.
Audio:
Good English and Japanese audio. No complaints. Watch this in sub...Quon and Ayato sound far better in Japanese.

Comment:
Chapters are conveniently divided by opening, part A, part B, and ending. So no problems searching when you have to stop watching part way. The DVD menu is very plain but there are some nice previews for other shows and Rahxephon sketches in the extras. I watched this on Philips 727 and there's no problems reading the disks. However, there was a minor 2 second skip for the preview of episode 20. The director of this show Izubuchi said they wanted to set a new standard in robot anime and I think they have done that. This series is one of the best shows out there. Great animation from Bones, lovely character designs,(Quon is even more sexy than Rei IMO) and the most haunting piano pieces I've heard since Noir and Macross Plus. It is true that the show has many elements similar to Evangelion but at the end it feels far more complete and the character are more fleshed out than the ones in Evangelion. At the root of this tale is a love story, hence I feel regardless of some of the similarities between Rahxephon and Eva, it is unfair to claim that Rahxephon are merely copying Evangelion. In my view, this show is Evangelion done right. If you're a mech fan, a disgruntled fan who disliked Eva, or even just an anime fan in general I think you would enjoy this show as it's very well crafted.

Great video quality. There is some minor pixelation durring high action. I watch my set on my PC (mid-high end setup). I am picky with it comes to video, so know that this set is very very good.
Audio:
I watched the dub version of this, and the quality is perfect. My only complaint would be a non-technical one; that is that the voice actors often sound like, if are not the same actors, that dubbed Eva, which does not help in setting this very eva-like series apart.

A very good series overall. Be warned, it will feel like your watching an alternate dimension Evangelion most of the time. It is kind of slow going, but then finally picks up and distinguishes itself in the later half. Extras: Each disk contains a gallery of mechanical and character designs from the show. Nothing too special. Nitpick: The main menu has some text noticably cut and paste together. No biggie really, you probley would not even notice unless you watch it on the PC. R1 rip, i found no pixealation in my setup . The colours and video seem a little brighter or washed out than it's usual in anime, but i think that is just a question of style and the r1s are like these also i think

Extras : Each DVD has some characters Art sketches and that's all Note : I had some problems in one of my DVDs (Pioneer) on the 2nd layer of the DVDs i got some skipping / blockiness / Read errors in some episodes . However in my Toshiba DVD it played fine with no skipping or Blockiness. Also on the 3rd DVD's First Episode - The "Next episode preview" wouldn't play in one of my DVDs, but in the other DVD it kinda likes freezes for a 1/2 second and then plays fine the rest of that "Next Episode Preview" I found no significant problems with this set , except this reading problems in one of my DVD Players, so if you are sure / you don't get usually reading problems with FX DVDs, it's a great set. If however your player usually has reading problems with FX DVDs , i'd wait for a new batch (Maybe there 's a new one already available newer than mine ??? i don't know ... i am pretty sure i brought the 1st batch)
