I really didn?t notice any problems with either movie in the video department despite the Vampire Hunter Ds age. It?s a good rip in this department.
Audio:
Now the audio for the first one was excellent but the second can drive you insane it goes from EXTREMELY low to very loud out of nowhere someone screwed up there oh well.

Good... but given there were two movies crammed on one disc, you see the video suffering some on Bloodlust... being as it's such a dark movie, with so many dark scenes. Good deal of pixelation.. but completely forgiveable.
Audio:
What is the deal with the audio in Bloodlust? Was it so ridiculous in the original source, as well? I don't have a sound system that does audio control... and I found the action and the music to be so ridiculously over-loud in comparison to the speaking, that I was constantly having to shift the volume. Annoying.

Comment:
A good set for Vampire Hunter D fans who don't want to shell out more money for both movies separately. Can't really go wrong.. unless you're annoyed by having to turn the volume up and down during Bloodlust, to keep up with the jumpy volume levels.

in the first movie there was some pixelation in most parts but its what can be expected since its an older movie but it was still great to watch, the 2nd movie :Bloodlust, was great i loved it i didnt see anything wrong with it at all except in a few scenes at the end of it there was a lil bit of pixelation but you could barely notice it
Audio:
audio was outstanding, went soft in a few areas on the first movie but other than that it was fine, second movie was perfect

Vampire Hunter D & Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust are a pair of great movies and definately worth the price they're being sold for here :), other than a few minor pixelation faults i saw on it i was very happy with what i bought.

The video is clear as can be however some may point out the somewhat crap quality of Vampire Hunter D(the first movie) this was made quite a long time ago so the quality is going to be poorer - the original format was video and probably VCD/LD which are a not exactly high quality formats. It is a lot grittier than the newer one and has poorer animation values(yet it still spawned alot of us toward Manga and Anime - its a classic) there is a remastered version out on DVD but how clear this is I don't know (I don't think $30 is exactly as reasonable just to test out the quality) until I can borrow a copy. For a older anime it still is great for what it is. You watch it for the story. Bloodlust is a recent release and it shows, the animation is crisp and details are all clear I found nothing wrong with it and it is one of my all time favs. It is like a new wine after a older fine - fresher and crisper and different.
Audio:
No problems - one of my reasons why I like this set is because the English voice acting is very suitable and is far better than any other dubbed series(then again it does have higher production values) it just sounds right.

Comment:
A all time classic coupled with a new (and to me) classic. Underlying the story of the Vampire hunter are loads of hints towards different things such as love and morality. There are moments of peace where it feels right rather than all out action. And combines the legends of the vampire in different ways - both stories are radically different but show the same person - yet in different lights. A steal at this price If you read this far you should know it is a great anime. Many people will diss the first movie for the quality now but like Akira in some ways it was one of the first western anime that really shot off. The second movie is a salute to the classic by bringing a freshness to to the underlying story.

The video is perfect, not much else to say. The original Vampire Hunter D's video is slightly grainy, but it's caused by the fact that it's an older movie and nothing more.
Audio:
Same as the video; Bloodlust is perfect, the original sounds a little muffled because it's older.

Comment:
The menus are done very well, the only odd things being the "Special Features." The special features on the original Vampire Hunter D should have been called "Game Trailer" as all it consists of is a trailer of the Vampire Hunter D Playstation game. The special features on Bloodlust should have been called "Movie Trailer" or something of that sort, as all it consists of is the trailer for Bloodlust. I'm not sure if this is how it was done in the R1 versions or not, it doesn't bother me at all, I just found it weird and thought I'd mention it. The packaging is good, it looks pretty much like any other DVD case. And although it may seem like nothing, I really appreciated the fact the DVD is put into a paper DVD holder when it is shipped. This prevents the center from breaking off pieces of the DVD holder inside the case, and also keeps the DVD from getting scratched on the DVD holder during its rough trip.

This is a great set and it opens up to a menu that lets you choose which menu to go to. Either Vampire Hunter D or Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust both R1 ripped, and very well done, I didnt notice any problems at all with this Dvd, its really a must own.
