Video:
There's no step down in video quality from the previous set; video here is perfect with no color bleeding or image breakup. Quite the high water mark for HK sets as far as video goes.
Audio:
Perfect audio again; Jse and English stereo tracks are all present, lossless, and in synch with the audio.

Package:
The packaging is slightly different from the first stage packaging, though they share identical "book" style gatefolds. There's no "back", per say, to this set, as both sides have cover art. The inside of the gatefold is rather plain compared to the first stage, with a brushed metal look with a few characters from the series overlayed. There is no episode listing, and the disc information is located on the bottom right side of the inside of the gatefold.
Menus: Same menus as the first stage; fast loading and visually appealing. On my set, however, there was a problem with the menus on the second disc where the icons didn't match up with the image on the screen, so for instance to go to the scene selection menu you'd have to highlite above the menu, etc... A minor problem, but one I thought I'd point out.
Extras: There are several creditless openings on each disc, a featurette on the first, and production sketches on the second. Nice to have, although the featurette is not subtitled.
Series comments:
After the slow start of the first stage, the second stage kicks into high gear and doesn't hold back with epic space battles, dying characters, mystics, and a dash of voltron to spice things up. The second stage is a bit more serious than the first, with twice the drama and a few emotional moments that make you wonder where all the comedy in the series went. There's also a few twists that'll make you wonder what the hell the writers were smoking, but I guess bizarre eva-esque sequences and gender bending are all the rage these days. Rest assured that the series comes to a satisfying conclusion, and that there's no shortage of explosions, over the top special effects, and manly strutting throughout. There's also the coolest whip vs. sword fight ever, which is always a plus.
Hopefully if you're watching this set, you've already seen the first stage so you know what to expect. If not, got get it and check it out. This series is a great ride full of plenty of eye candy (both in terms of FX and character costumes :p), some unexpected twists, and quite a few laughs. A highly recommended set, and a necessary one if you already have the first stage.
