Comment:

A decent series hindered by a "no-effort" DVD release. The video suffers from a good amount of pixelation. The audio is so-so, not bad but could have been stronger. The problem, like most HK-DVD releases, are the subs. Ordian is another "very-talky" mecha series (like most mecha series nowadays). The viewer never gets a grasp of the many sub-plots involving the programs characters because the weak translations. Half the time you find yourself trying saying "Now what the hell is that supposed to mean?". Again -thats the usual for these DVDs. Too bad.

Hi i think the reviews before me are a little harsh. Let me review the dvd first before the content. The visual and sound are great. The subtitles are very good by HK standards. Throughout the whole show, i've only seen the subs going off the screen for one sentence. The spelling is wrong now and again for words like sacrifice and trespasses. The subtitles are almost never off time. They do happen very seldom for a sentence not to match the dialogue but the next sentence follows on fine. The names are as usual not perfect but that is to be expected. All in all, the subtitles are good but not impressive as in the phrasing is not exactly perfect but understandable. Now to the content. Overall i liked this more than the Evangelion series! The mechs are nicer and the characters are cool. Plus the fact that the last 2 eps of evangelion really put me off. BUT BE WARNED IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNGER VIEWERS I was quite shock in fact, in the display of detailed breasts bouncing and juggling, touching and hugging. I've only seen this type of detail in hentai. It's weird frankly and i don't really like my hentai to be mixed with my anime. Slowly by slowly, i began to wonder who is the next girl i'm going to see nude next.

Okay, before I I say anything, I must ask this: Who in the unholy name of Zaphod Beeblebrox allows Masami Ohbari to continue working in the anime industry. I mean, this is the guy whose career hinges on two devices: bouncy breasts and pretty fight scenes. And while I'm a pretty big fan of the former, it seems disturbing that every pitch this guy throws out to animation stuido's gets picked up and he continues to bore the rest of us with good taste with his usual brand of crappola. Once again, Obari chooses to create a straight carbon-copy Eva clone, this time pounding us with overt, half-baked religious symbolism and some of the goofiest mechs this side of G Gundam. If Hideaki Anno were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave. For sure. As far as everything else goes, it all sucks in equal craptitude here. The video bleeds and hurts the eyes, the audio track sounds as if it were cranked through a gramaphone, and the subtitles read as if they were created straight from a Japanese to English pocket dictionary. The video is OK, not that good though. The video is very soft and during dark and mecha scenes the video is a pixeled mess. Audio sucks ass here as there is a hum throughout the whole thing that makes it sound like a VHS put on play real loud. During quite scenes it is very irritating. The subs are totally useless and make no sense half the time. Stuff like a Hugen is called an RPG *shrug*. Several missing subs throughout and timing is pretty shobby. The show itself is a total pile of crap. Obari once again makes something so full of cheese and tries to be serious here with this huge Evangelion rip off that makes no sense whatsoever.

Comment:

Decent video and audio, but nasty subs. The show has a lot of complicated politcal back story, buts its all pretty much lost due to the shoddy subs. Overall its a bad anime with bad subs, should be avoided.
