Overall:
Video:
Very nice TV rip. Video is a little bit unsharp and there's some slight color blur. Still, one of the best TV rips. No disturbances in the TV signal at all. I wasn't sure for a long time if this was a TV or a DVD rip until some tape glitches showed up in the last episodes.
Audio:
Nothing to complain about on my simple stereo TV.
Subtitle:
HK originals, but very good. Most names are right or phonetically close, like the main protagonist Tamai Shiina who is called Tama Hina. At least no Chinese names and the slightly off names are consistent throughout the set. There are some of the usual grammar errors (mainly mixing up of I/you/he/she) and some strange wordings, but the subs are very understandable. This is an AV rip, so if you know some of AV's latest (very good) subtitle jobs, you know what to expect.
Comment:
Don't get fooled by the happy, kiddy-style opening or some cute character designs. This is not kids' stuff. I have read the manga, so I knew what would await me. One issue even had to be censored in Germany, so that it could be distributed freely. (because of the scene in episode 12 in the anime, you probably know it when you have seen it - and the manga is much more explicit). Knowing the manga, I had no problems following the story, but I can imagine that it can be a little problematic to understand the characters' motivations if you only watch the anime. Nevertheless, I can highly recommend this series (and the set). I'm looking forward to the second season. Equipment used: Kenwood DVF-3080 PAL player, cheap Grundig 27" PAL stereo TV
