Excellent rip of this series. No problems at all.

R1 rip. Excellent. I only watched it in Japanese but the English is probably just as good.

Comment:
This series was really different from any other Gundam series up to this point. It wasn't bad at all, just different and a lot shorter. I suggest that any Gundam fan sees this series.

Comment:
Very good single disc package. Only small letdown is the one chapter per episode meaning you have to fast forward to through the titles to the next episode. Very different from the usual epic 50 episode Gundam series. But in some ways all the better for it. It's incredibly thought provoking, looking deeply at the morality and ethics of war and how it affects people who are and are not fighting. Not a huge amount of intense action sequences (what there is is very good) but this is more than made up for by the story and character development. A true anime masterpiece and one of my favourite Gundam series.

The show is a little bit older, but it looked fantastic. No problems visually and a lot of detail.
Audio:
I listened to the english dub and had one significant problem. The audio cut out completely for 30 seconds during the interview the day after the Alex 'kills' the Kaemphfer. I don't know if mine is an isolated disc, but perhaps someone else can confirm their english track is complete during that scene.

A classic Gundam series everyone should own. Cool mecha battles, character development, and a damn sad story. This one will tug at your emotions and is definitely worth owning.

Wonderful video quality. No pixelation or breakup even during intense firefights and explosions.

5.1 tracks for both english and japanese dialogue. Ver. nice. The dub is notable as being one of the better I've heard.

Packaging: This one disc release comes in a nice clear plastic case with a reversable cover, both potential covers featuring group shots of various characters from the OVA and teh back showing screenshots, a cel style picture of the Kaempfer, and the series information. Quite nice looking, overall. Menus: The menus are aren't in english, but they're simple enough to navigate. The episodes are listed with chinese names, but there's also numbers, so you can tell which is which. Chapter breaks: Unfortunately, there's only one break per episode, so you can't skip around easily. C'est la vie. Content: Gundam 0080: war in the pocket is a significant departure from other gundam series', and not just because it's so much shorter :p. While other gundam series' have depicted the epic nature of the Zeon/Federation battles, 0080 instead pulls the focus inward, onto a boy living in a neutral colony that just happens to be the site of a secret federation weapon development program. This series isn't cut and dry when it comes to who's right or wrong either, leaving with you a confused sense of who exactly you should be rooting for. This is a good thing however, as the OVA's appeal lies in its fairly heart wrenching story and compelling characters. For those wanting a war story on a large cale that extolls the majesty of battle and dying for what you believe in, you might want to look elsewhere, but for anyone who'd like to experience a gundam story that isn't so much focused on gundams, you should definately check it out. It doesn't hurt that it DOES have some pretty awesome action sequences and some of the better and more realistic mecha designs seen in a gundam show. 0080 along with 08th MS team IMO take the position of some of the best examples of the gundam series', as well as some of the better series' I've had the pleasure of watching.
