Video:
For practically the entire series, the video is very clean and crisp. Nearly perfect looking video. On a PC monitor, you can see some extraordinarily minor pixellation, which I did not notice while watching on a TV.
But I have noticed ONE visual error when watching with English subtitles on. On one scene the entire screen flashed yellow for a couple of seconds--this happened at least once on the FX Kenshin set as well. I've only noticed it ONE time and only on Disc 1, as it is absent from all of Discs 2-3, which look almost perfect. Even if it is only one single scene in an entire 26 episode series, an error is an error.
Audio:
Japanese Audio is clear and in-sync with the video. Stays that way for the entire series.
Only checked the English dub once for Episode 1, just to hear what it sounds like. Technically speaking, it is also clear and in-sync. The quality of the dub itself sounds better-than-average.

Comment:
The Year is 2031. Yuji has been in cryo-sleep for 19 years because he has a disease science could not cure with the resources and knowledge available in 2009, and he acidentally wakes-up while a retrieval squad is rescuing him. For over 14 years, the Earth has been overrun by Blue, organisms that are literally wiping mankind off the face of the planet. Man has run away to space, but they are sending teams back to Earth to retrieve "Sleepers" like Yuji. The reasoning behind these missions is only known by those in command. Marlene is one of the members in the retrieval squad that secured Yuji. In trying to escape hell on Earth, their fates become inexplicably tied to each other.
An action-packed sci-fi/drama show. Violent and unapologetically gorey at times too. I finished watching the series--while the core of the science fiction they used to build the background of the plot around is kind of flimsy, there is plenty of tense, bloody action, and it is interesting to watch the two main characters develop throughout the show. Marlene discovers her humanity because of being with Yuji while Yuji's humanity slips away because of his increasing involvement in the war against the invading Blue. While not exactly wholly original or mind-blowing, it is a pretty good and entertaining series overall, just not quite a great one.
26 Episodes are divided up into 3 discs, in the standard 9-9-8 split. Each episode is split into Opening, Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, Closing, and Next Episode Preview (so you get a ton of chapters).
R1 extras are also provided on each disc, though they are weak. Disc 1: Trailer for the Blue Gender TV Series. Disc 2: Commercials for Blue Gender OP and ED on CD, and Blue Gender on home video. Disc 3: Trailers for FUNimation anime, like Fruits Basket.
